Breastfeeding in public is protected. Expressing in public is protected. So why are women still being told to hide?

This week a woman, a GP, was asked to leave a Virgin lounge for expressing. She was told to do it in the toilet. Barbaric.

The day before I was pumping while walking through Sydney duty free. Nobody cared. Nobody blinked. That is how it should be.

The fact that in 2025 women are still fighting for the basic right to feed their babies in the way that works for them is disgraceful.

We don’t need more “quiet rooms.” We don’t need more “discretion.” We need people to stop policing mothers.

It is 2025. Women should not have to fight for this crap.

Postpartum hunger is next-level. Like, “how am I STILL hungry, I just ate an entire meal” hungry.

But here’s the kicker: actually eating can feel impossible.
You’re starving, your baby is screaming, and suddenly you’re trying to eat toast with one hand while bouncing a newborn on your hip. Sound familiar? 🙋‍♀️

That’s why I pulled together my favourite realistic go-to meals + snacks for postpartum—because fueling your body matters (for recovery, milk supply, AND your sanity).

Think: freezer smoothie bags, pre-made wraps, slow cooker meals that wait for YOU, and grab-and-go snacks stashed everywhere. And yes sometimes the only answer really is chocolate. 🍫

👉 Save this for when you’re in the trenches, or send it to a friend who’s about to give birth. Because the best postpartum gift isn’t another onesie, it’s FOOD.

What was your go-to postpartum meal? Drop it in the comments, I’m building a master list 👇

“Don’t pick them up too much.”
“You’ll spoil them.”
“You’re making a rod for your own back.”

How many times have you heard that?

Here’s the truth: being responsive to your baby is never a bad habit. Babies aren’t manipulative, they’re not trying to test you, and they sure as hell aren’t robots that can be programmed to follow some generic schedule in a book.

Yes, your baby is reliant on you completely and unapologetically. That’s how human survival works. And yes, that level of need can be overwhelming, exhausting, and relentless. But it’s also normal.

The problem isn’t “too much comfort.” The problem is that parents are told to ignore their instincts instead of being given support.

✅ Feed when your baby is hungry.
✅ Cuddle when they need closeness.
✅ Accept that sleep, feeding, and temperament look different for every single baby.
✅ Drop the idea that one-size-fits-all schedules are the holy grail.

Responsiveness isn’t weakness. It’s the most protective, biologically wired thing you can do for your baby. The real issue isn’t whether your baby is “too reliant” it’s whether you’ve got the support around you to share the load.

So let’s be clear: the best thing you can do is respond to your baby. Every time. No guilt, no “bad habits,” no apologies.

I mean I do love a good online group, although I’m more of a lurker vs commenter. Buutttttt the reality is they are an absolute minefield.

I know all of these comments can with the best of intentions but the reality is the advice is just average - and these comments don’t even scratch the surface of what I see suggested in there daily 😱

Please ask an expert I promise we won’t bite.

If you are up for it share with me the most wild suggestions you’ve seen suggested below and I’ll give you my two cents👇
