Scott A Johnston : Researchers explored how oregano EO may help the body use insulin more effectively, especially when challenged by palmitic acid—a saturated fat that often interferes with how cells take in sugar. In this lab study, human fat cells exposed to palmitic acid showed sluggish insulin signaling and poor glucose absorption, which are hallmarks of insulin resistance. However, when oregano oil was introduced, it protected the cells, restoring their ability to respond to insulin and absorb sugar properly. These benefits are thought to come from oregano oil’s natural antioxidants and plant compounds, which reduce cellular stress and support healthier metabolic function. In plain terms, oregano essential oil helped the cells “listen” to insulin again, showing promise to manage problems tied to obesity, high-fat diets, and type 2 diabetes.
