Wee Loki is on the clock! 🐶💻📱

Meet Loki! (Nina/Mums Furbaby) - While she looks quite focused, she’s helping us explain what happens behind the scenes after you make that initial call to us.

Last time, Teddie the Chihuahua 🐾was manning the phones, but Loki is here to show you what our team is doing while you take a much-needed moment for yourself when you make that first call to us, we’ll often suggest "touching base in the morning."
It’s not just a delay - it’s a gift of time it's time for you to exhale, gather your thoughts, and look after your own needs while we handle the rest.

While you are taking that time for yourself, Loki 🐾 and the rest of the team are working hard for you.

What are we doing while you rest?
✨Making contact with the hospital or rest home.
✨Bringing your loved one safely into our care.
✨Obtaining and checking the paperwork to ensure everything is correct.

You focus on being human; we’ll focus on the highest standard of care for your loved one.

Dear Team Simplicity 🐾🐾
I was in a thinking mood this week. What were you thinking, sweet Belle? I hear you say. Thank you for asking. I was thinking that there are two kinds of favourite things in my life: the first ones are those you can’t nose boop: love, wind around the ears on a car ride, an unexpected walk on the beach, the feeling of finding that bone you had hidden in the garden 2 years earlier. And then there are the things you can nose boop: mum & mum, a comfy couch, a blankie when it’s cold, my favourite ice block.

But what do you do with the things you should be able to nose boop (like dinner) but can’t? In this case I just make my saddest 🥹 face until mum realises she is 2 minutes late. Usually that makes the food go from non-boopable to boopable. Great trick, ey?

Dear Team Simplicity 🐾🐾
Mum asked me earlier this week if I wanted to be her Valentine. And of course I said yes. Now imagine my surprise when I was asked again – by my other mum, just a day later. Of course I said yes, and we decided to make a Valentine’s day trio, because for each of us the other 2 are the most important. And it turned out perfectly! First there was a breakfast with very special pancakes (with cream and berries 🫐 and all the good stuff), and then there was a long walk on the beach – because it was supposed to rain but didn’t – and then there was ice cream on the way back. I can’t remember much of the rest of the day because I was pooped and needed my beauty sleep, which was rudely interrupted by dinner.

Today we are pausing to celebrate a very special member of the Simplicity Funerals Christchurch family—our wonderful Assistant Manager, Funeral Director, and official "work mum," Nina!

Nina is the glue that holds our team together. Whether she’s guiding a family through a difficult time, or making sure the rest of us have actually remembered to eat lunch, she does it all with a smile and a heart of gold.

Dear Team Simplicity 🐾🐾
We finally got some hot days this week! I am not sure if this is cause for celebration, because it means that all my routines go out the window – and I am very fond of my routines. 🔥Hot weather means walkies BEFORE breakfast. Who has heard of such a thing?
Anyway, once out and about I enjoy my walkies no matter the time as long as it’s not stinking hot or too windy or rainy. There were a few other dogs out and about, they enjoyed their early morning walks too.
The good thing is that all the overnight-smells are still really fresh, so you get to smell about every cat 🐈, and even the small critters who have been in a place. And talking about small critters: One thing I like about summer is the crazy sound of the cicadas. I thought because they make SO MUCH NOISE, they must be really big. And then we saw one on a tree this week.
They are tiny (at least compared to normal sized things like me)! I couldn’t believe it. How do they do it?

🥦 Why Settle for Just Petals?
We often see beautiful floral tributes, but sometimes a traditional bouquet just doesn’t "fit" the person we’re saying goodbye to. If they were the type of person who was happiest with dirt under their fingernails or whipping up a roast for the whole family, why not a vegetable spray?
