Aww, a little thank you from the team at SURFable 💙

Horizons Unlimited is immensely proud to support SURFable Sessions, an annual surfing event for the disabled community held at Scarborough Beach in Sumner.

The 2026 event delivered perfect little waves and even bigger smiles, with 40 surfers hitting the water and coming out absolutely stoked with their experience.

An unforgettable day for everyone involved! 🏄

🚨 A slightly different post to usual - We need your help! 🚨

Two of the Horizons team are fundraising for Blood Cancer NZ, and they’re taking on some epic challenges to do it!

🔥 Gemma (our Programme Coordinator) will be climbing the Sky Tower in full fire PPE, alongside three members of her volunteer fire brigade.

🧔 James (aka Caveman) is raising the stakes — if Gemma hits $12,500, he’ll shave his beard down to a #1 (a huge sacrifice years in the making!)

It's still and this week we are talking about preparation and technique!

Prep: If the river is safe to cross, and you have river crossing skills, it’s time to get ready. Use the checklist in the image!

Technique:
> If crossing in a team, use the Mutual Support Method
> If crossing solo, use a sturdy pole (2 metres +) for extra stability

Remember: If in doubt, stay out 🚫

🌄 Adventure Ed – We are amongst staff training and we are excited for a busy Term 4!

🏄 Christchurch Paddleboarding – The sun’s out and SUP is back! Stay tuned for more summer dates!

⛑️ Emcare – Due to popular demand we increased numbers for Nov PHEC Refresher and there's just one spot left! There are still a few spaces in our full PHEC course for those keen to upskill.

🧭 Safety Management – It’s been a busy year for Mark, working with clients across NZ. He’s currently down south providing on-site support and expertise.

That’s why we are supporting !

New Zealand Mountain Safety Council will be sharing important resources throughout this month to:

✔️ Build a more safety-conscious outdoor community
