Formthotics are my choice of orthotics since 1995.

Over those 30 years the quality has never faulted with the product a dream to work with.

Formthotics come pre fabricated in different colours (as pictured here) which indicate the varying densities all made from EVA (Ethylene - Vinyl Acetate). They help absorb shock and are thermoformable, heated to take the shape of your foot when placed into shoes.

Which Formthotic I use is dependent on your own foot issues and of course what sport or activity you are involved with, whether that’s running, walking, cycling or just being on your feet 9-5 in heavy work boots.

I’m able to customise Formthotics to your specific needs by adding modifications (EVA) to help offset load on painful areas ( i.e. reduce pressure placed on tendons, muscles, ligaments & bones).

If your feet are giving you pain and grief, why not give Fendalton Foot Clinic a call today.

Juliann can help advise and prescribe footwear to benefit your feet and discuss orthotic options should you require them.

* HARD CORNS *

Tiny but oh so painful!
Corns are concentrated areas of hardened, built up skin cells that form as a result of too much pressure on the skin over a boney prominence.

Repeated stress damages the skin until it’s unable to repair itself at the same rate as the stress.
In an effort to protect the underlying tissue, excess skin forms in the area.

Corns form when the skin forms a plug of harder skin to protect itself. This plug is pushed back into the skin and looks like an inverted cone. This cone-like structure is often referred to as the nucleus or core.
As the mechanical stress increases, the nucleus extends down and presses on the inner layer of the skin and even nerves, resulting in pain.

Common areas where corns may form are over the top of toe joints, ends of toes, under the balls of the feet or over any boney protrusion. Over time, the fatty pad tissue that cushions our metatarsals (balls of the feet) dissipates & with constant pressure, hard skin (calluses) or corns may form.

Corns are painless to remove, they do not delve into the vascular/blood layer and of course, are best treated by a podiatrist. 👩‍⚕️

It is important to note that corns can not be ‘killed off’ unlike a verruca & as previously mentioned, are the result of the body trying to protect itself by producing extra layers of skin. Corns occur due to an underlying mechanical or boney pressure problem and often require regular maintenance.

We can advise you on footwear, preventative padding to protect the vulnerable area where the corn was & delay recurrence of your corns and of course what type of moisturiser is best suited to your skin.

If corns are making you miserable, contact us today and make an appointment:

Its that time of year.. 🥶

Our poor hands & feet (being at the end of our extremities) are generally the first to suffer the effects of these cold frosty mornings. It’s difficult to keep them at a regular temperature and it’s tempting to warm them up by placing them beside a heater. Unfortunately this causes dis regulation in the small blood vessels in the toes and under the soles of the feet where blood circulation isn’t always the best.

Sudden change in temp from cold to hot causes constricted blood vessels to rapidly open & over dilate which produces blood to leak into surrounding tissues causing swelling, redness, inflammation, itching and eventual break down of localised tissue.

Prevention & treatment involves dressing feet warmly by wearing merino/wool blend socks. Shoes that aren’t constricted around the toe box area that can reduce circulation and exercise. Even regular, small walks are helpful to encourage circulation. If chair bound; ankle rotations/exercises & depending what stage your chill blain is at, there are available over the counter creams and ointments to help you .
