Congratulations to Professor Mark Hampton and Dr Christoph Goebl from the Centre for Free Radical Research for receiving 2021 Marsden Fund grants!

Christoph's funded project is for a novel amyloid formation mechanism ignited by oxidation.

Mark's grant is for the recovery of red blood cells from oxidative stress: a window on human ageing. Mark’s project was profiled here:

Congratulations to Dr Emma Spencer who received a Health Research Society of Canterbury (HRSC) Emerging Researcher Award for the best postdoctoral presentation last week.

Emma was one of eight early career researchers chosen to present at an event held at the Health Precinct’s Manawa building. Her presentation discussed vitamin C status in type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus - relationship to body weight and disease severity’.

The prizes were sponsored by the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation.
