21 years of Balance Physiotherapy

This week marks 21 years since Balance Physiotherapy began.

Back in 2005, Sharada started her very first school clinic... just her.
From those early days to now, Balance Physiotherapy has grown to support 9 schools across Christchurch, with a team of 9 staff continuing that same passion and commitment.

Over the years, the focus has always stayed the same, helping young people recover, perform, and achieve their goals.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey over the past 21 years!

Such a great initiative. 👏👏👏

This May, we're thinking about our rangatahi.

Whānau have always known. Teachers have always seen it. Communities have always felt the weight of a young person who is struggling — quietly, invisibly, often alone.

What's been missing isn't the love. It's the place.

The Lighthouse Trust is creating Te Whare Rama Pods. Which are calm, biophilic spaces designed specifically for schools, where rangatahi can pause, breathe, and return to their day feeling like themselves again.

Our pilot pod opens at St Thomas' of Canterbury College, this August — and we believe it's the first of its kind not just in Aotearoa, but anywhere in the world.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, here's how you can help:
💚 Share this post and help us reach the schools, whānau, and communities who need to know this exists
💚 Get in touch to find out how you can support us
💚 Believe it's possible — because one young person finding calm in the middle of a hard day is how change begins

We're standing in the light for our rangatahi. Will you stand with us?
