Pink Ribbbon Breakfast Day! We went a few days early and had a lovely combo inservice, sweet treats and an in-team raffle this week. A great way to fundraise, enjoy time to together as a team and think of all those affected by Breast Cancer.

We are supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation by hosting a staff pink ribbon lunch this week. Keeping it small for our first time but looking forward to it with some pink baking planned tomorrow night! This mother's day weekend I did what I always advise families to do....a shoe audit for my mother in law! It's incredible how many pairs of shoes she had tucked away that didn't offer proper support. Poor shoes cause falls and it was so satisfying to get rid of so many and also take her to purchase a really good 'everyday' pair plus some velcro but supportive slippers. I 'let' her keep one pair of sneakers and another favourite that offered moderate support! I hadn't learnt the lesson that I teach everyone else - and waited until she had fallen over (thankfully minimal injury) before I did this clear out! Don't be like me - give the older people in your life some practical love and do a shoe audit today!! (the keepers in a neat pile, the 'going out' stacked up w***y nilly!

Physio assistants! This Friday we have our FREE education session at On the Go Physio. This time we are looking at strength and balance exercises - why we need them and how to implement them in an aged care environment. Session is from 1:00 - 2:30. This is incredible news - we are delighted to see even more people living with neurological conditions supported by cann trust. And as the Christchurch providers this means we are able to provide some physiotherapy services at no cost to the client. If you are living with PSP or MSA (also known as Parkinson's Plus diagnosis as they are often confused with Parkinson's initially) then visit the cann trust website and see how you can be supported. https://www.cann.org.nz/

Living with PSP or MSA often means needing the right support, at the right time.

We’re now extending cann’s support to include Atypical Parkinson’s — Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).

If you have a confirmed diagnosis, you may be eligible for a funded CORE support package through our allied health network.

Support includes a comprehensive assessment, a personalised plan, and follow-up sessions shaped around your goals and day-to-day needs.

You don’t have to figure it out on your own.

A busy fortnight - moving and handling conference in Brisbane (oh the glorious weather!) then straight back and into three days training with 8 amazing wāhine who are heading back to their workplaces FULL of new skills and knowledge.
