We are launching our first ever MS Get a Head Start course in October in Ōtautahi Christchurch. This incredible course aims to empower people living with Multiple Sclerosis with exercise and education - all in a small group so you can meet others living their lives with MS. Created by Gilly Davy this course will be available once this year with a maximum of 8 people. To find out more about the course check out the website. To register, phone 0800 000 856.

We are SO excited to have a FES RT300 bike in clinic now. Several of our clients with neurological conditions have already started their journey with this incredible bike. The RT300 uses functional electrical stimulation to address muscle atrophy (wasting), spasticity, swelling and help with muscle re-education. Have a wee look at this link from Restorative Therapies.

Giggles amongst the hard work last week! Camilla's presentation on exercise for people with Parkinson's was aimed at physio assistants, but some of our physios couldn't help popping in for some extra learning. Thanks Camilla for continuing to spread the message about just how important programmes like PD Warrior can make a huge difference in people's lives.

Do you work in aged care and wonder about hip protectors? If so, have a look at our short blog untangling the "yay or nay"!

As physiotherapists working in aged care, we are frequently asked to give an opinion on the use of hip protectors. Resident falls are always distressing, and staff and families are keen to do “something”.

So much fun in clinic figuring out the safest way to roll an anesthetised person using turning slings. She doesn't look very anesthetised - but acted beautifully and we got there! Looking forward to sharing our tips and tricks with some operating theatre staff next month.

We are spending time planning and getting ready to launch a few moving and handling videos (watch this space!). In the meantime - here is one we prepared earlier with our colleagues at Cubro. In this video, using the Immedia sheets (one of our favourite products!), the appropriate/proportionate number of caregivers is "one". This is also sometimes called single handed care and we see it most commonly when people are cared for at home. Have you used these sheets? Maybe during our trainings or in 'real life'?

Join us in August for a one day update - keep your skills and knowledge crispy - like a well folded slide sheet! (you'll only get that if you've been on our trainings before!).
