At Freedom Drivers, we support government initiatives to eliminate barriers to employment for disabled people.
The latest initiative by the Ministry for Disabled People is OneInSix.nz, a new website to help businesses feel confident hiring and supporting the 1 in 6 New Zealanders who are disabled.
Please visit the website (https://oneinsix.nz/) and like and share this post to get the word out to more employers.
A big group of skilled, motivated New Zealanders are missing from many workplaces.
1 in 6 New Zealanders are disabled, and many who want to work still face barriers to employment.
Today we launched One in Six, a new website to help businesses feel confident hiring and supporting disabled people.
Created with the New Zealand Disability Employers Network, it brings together simple tools, practical tips and real stories from workplaces across the country.
One in Six shows how small changes in how you hire – and how you support people on the job – can open the door to a wider, motivated talent pool.
Discover practical tips and employer stories at OneinSix.nz

New backpacks, stories of the summer holidays, and big first-day smiles! 🎒✨ It's back-to-school time for our tamariki.
If you can’t be there to drop them off, you want the next best thing to being there yourself.
At Freedom Companion Driving, we don’t just "drop and go." Your local driver will walk your child right to their destination and stay with them until they are safely in the care of their teacher or a trusted adult. It’s the same care and security you’d provide yourself, giving you total peace of mind.

Were you caught out when the Auckland Harbour Bridge was closed yesterday?
Dangerous wind gusts closed the bridge twice.
It was an inconvenience for us on the ground, but spare a thought for the original crew. During construction of the Auckland Harbour Bridge in the 1950s, when the rain started, these steel erectors had to sit tight and wait it out 140 feet above the water!
Looking at this makes our modern Health & Safety processes look like a dream. 😱
At Freedom Companion Driving, we prefer to keep all four wheels firmly on the ground. We might not be able to stop the wind, but we can certainly guarantee a much more comfortable seat than these legends had! 🚗✨

Freedom Drivers provide a caring, friendly and reliable alternative to taxis and other impersonal methods of transport.
Our clients range from seniors, those recovering from illness or injury, people with mobility challenges or disabilities through to children and teens needing safe travel or people needing to get pets to the vet. In fact we drive anyone who would prefer a more reliable and personal driving service at no extra cost.
For those requiring extra help we will assist you from your door to the car. We will accompany you to your appointment making sure you get where you need to be and we will wait with you if necessary or be there to pick you up afterwards. We can provide companion assistance with shopping, picking up prescriptions, taking your out for a cuppa or a scenic drive and we are happy to help with walkers or wheelchairs if you use one.
We also provide a personal driving service for tourists and holiday makers. This is a great flexible option if you just want to relax on holiday without having to worry about driving yourself and finding your way around. Go where you want, when you want without having to be part of a busy tour or group.
Freedom Drivers are ACC Registered Vendors. We are also providers for the Total Mobility (TM) transport scheme. This means we accept the TM vouchers, chits or cards in most areas.
