The Russley had the pleasure of hosting the renowned Spizzwinks(?) as part of their New Zealand tour. Residents described the performance as uplifting, magical, absolutely splendid, and “something quite special”. It was a world-class experience that brought great enjoyment and energy to the village.

Established in 1914, The Spizzwinks(?) are one of Yale’s premier a ca****la ensembles, with a proud history of international touring and performance excellence. The group’s distinctive name also carries an equally distinctive story.

In the early years, when the group’s name appeared in a Yale publication, an editor was uncertain whether it had been spelled correctly and added a tentative question mark. Rather than correcting it, the group embraced the ambiguity - and the famous “(?)” has remained part of their identity ever since.

Today, we pause to remember and honour those who served and sacrificed for our country. On ANZAC Day, we reflect on the courage and resilience that continue to shape who we are today.

At The Russley Village, we take a moment to come together in remembrance — to acknowledge the past, honour the present, and share in a quiet gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy.

Lest we forget.

The traditional notion of luxury – once purely a monument to excess and consumption – is being dismantled and rebuilt. A new philosophy is taking hold, one that finds opulence not in the acquisition of more, but in the discernment of enough.

The name Ranfurly is indelibly linked with New Zealand rugby tradition. However, the man who donated a shield to the New Zealand Rugby Football Union that bears his name today, was also a humanitarian, championing the dignity and selflessness of those who had served in the defence of the Empire.
