An update on closure.
Due to end of lease, my little Barrington clinic is closing. I am looking for another location to set up clinic, but for now the Barrington clinic will be closing end of October. Until then, business hours continue as the same, weekly on Mon/Wed/Fri.
I'll post an update when I know more.
Exciting!

The period of not-quite-spring. The swift change of temperature finds people pausing their energy flow, an unconscious act. Almost like the community is holding their collective breath, not quite believing the warmer weather is bearing down upon us yet wanting to enjoy nonetheless and to be present in the moment. An instinctual memory recalls the worst weather might just be ahead, but the belief that easier days are ahead is like ambrosia to the soul. Then our planning brain might kick in: Christmas is coming, friends to organise with, or bookings for next year are made, and the present is forgotten once again. Not-quite-Spring is a brief stage, but the effect of this pause can be significant. This pause in our energy makes more sense in Chinese Medicine, where very early spring is the time of the Liver Qi . The Qi (vital force) of the Liver has a tendency to stagnate, causing a multitude of concerns to a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner when evaluating a client. For the individual, focusing on the present helps, such as enjoying the weather in this moment and judge the next moment’s concerns only when they come up. How we move in our thoughts can affect the Qi (life force) of the body.
Move Liver Qi with a glass of water and lemon juice on waking. Increase your leafy greens intake and take regular gentle exercise.
Move, breath, live, love.

The tricky question is asked, ‘when should I come back’. In a typical clinic setting, you will find yourself being booked automatically in for next week. With my speciality being trauma, and working with Sensitivities, this answer can be a little more tricky. (Acupuncture and ACC treatments are very different however and weekly is recommended for a time). There have been times when my answer has been ‘you will just know, as my name will pop up unexpectedly in you mind’. Not surprisingly I can receive a blank or amused look at this response. The truth is, sometimes the nervous system needs some time to digest change, and when ready for the next stage, you intuition will quite happily pop ‘Emily’ up on you mental calendar. Many a time I’ve had a client return for another session exclaiming their delight at my being exactly correct, my name popped up in their mind several times until they booked. Their intuition worked perfectly to advise them when the time was right for them.
Ain’t it great being a Sensitive?!

Time for a review of self this season so I threw myself upon Otago for a few days, determined to take in wintery wild vistas for a mental audit. Such a thing always easier when done amongst nature, and I do so love NZ wintery drama. Friday morning found me on the Otago Peninsula, Sandymount to be precise. An avenue of imposing trees at the entrance holding an immense gravitas immediately prompting the unbidden thought ‘ohhh this might be an interesting visit’. Sidestepping constant sheep p**p and wary pregnant ewes, eventually I spotted the orange indicator for the look out a way ahead through the hilly paddock. The next second my inner sight twigged me attention on an area to my left, near the cliff. Nothing visually stood out, but my inner antenna was twitching and telling me this was important. Senses extended. I picked up a sense of warning/awareness (?) and expectation. Towards me? No, felt too old, not specifically towards me then…, just..aware. Berating myself a little for having missed the clue from the intensity of the entrance trees, I planted my feet firmly, close my eyes. Opening my senses and offered a friendly greeting and polite request to the those inhabiting the land. After being subjected to a brief but intense assessment, I felt someone pop up directly by my left side. Ah, permission granted and a guide/representative of sorts to indicate the moment. Marvellous. The Deva of the area had approved my visit.

Happy Yule!
The pagan ‘new year’ - the winter solstice. Explained as the Pagan New Year ‘when the sun child is reborn, an image of the return of all new life born through the love of the Gods’ (Pagan Federation). There’s something lovely to me about being in the midst of cold and damp season, celebrating the ‘birth’ of eventual spring time; a little reminder that even in the deepest darkest state, the warmth of the light is always nearby. I plan to celebrate this weekend by warming my hands on a mug of mulled wine. Huzzah!

Happy Matariki !
'As the stars of the Matariki cluster rise in the winter sky, they signal a time of remembrance, reflection, and renewal across Aotearoa. Matariki is a special period that connects us to the land, the sky, and each other, through a series of events, traditions, and celebrations that are deeply rooted in Māori culture.'

I've found this marvelous website that give more detail on the significance of Matariki. I plan to be spending time in nature and reflecting on my connection to my surroundings. Of course you can guarantee I'll be munching on good locally grown food as well !!

Other lives, astral attachments and tree people.. oh my!
Its been a flurry of work on all levels this last few months in and out of clinic. My healing skills have expanded to attachment removals, more in-depth property clearance/balancing, plus deeper clarity on other lives and the clearing of influence on present life experience. I’m painfully aware that this has coincided with a time of world distress, what with more attempts at war mongering in other lands, and constant media talk of anger being expressed at all levels. Not too surprising that healers skills will broaden and expand as energy seeks to maintain balance in the universe. Healing can happen at all levels, in any tiny crack that may allow light in. Connection to nature reinforces this idea. A simple walk in nature will turn many people’s thoughts around, soothing cluttered or distressed minds. Maybe all meetings between countries should be held in native forests!

Happy Autumn Equinox - 21 March
This is a time where pagans honor age and the approach of winter, when day and night stand equal, before the darker face of winter approaches as shadows lengthen. The celebration of the abundance is very much over, leaves are coming loose from trees, the colors of dry golden summer begin to brown with the unpredictable temperatures and increasing moisture in the air. All things must change; find peace in nature's acceptance and adjustment in the flow of life.

Sensation. This world is a banquet for the senses. Feel and be, rather than over think.
A rare Saturday morning off. I awoke early to head off on a favourite early morning forest walk and market jaunt. The forest was damp and full of life, the nature spirits almost lazy in their movements, the overnight rain dampening the undergrowth and the feeling of satisfaction and nourishment being felt on all energy plains within the forest. Emerging from the peace of the forest, the bustling noise and activity of a farmers market day was nearly startling with its contrast, our senses had had to quickly adjust. A gentle meander amongst stalls, dodging errant umbrella edges near eye level and sharing smiles with vendors and fellow shoppers. Delicious baked goods were purchased and consumed, satisfying morning appetites. A half hearted shop in the organic vege stall, full tummies tensing with just the thought of more food. Vege purchased for a later plan of healthy food, a belated apology to the stomach for the gluten laden baked goods it was having to digest at that moment. Home then, though via a stroll on the beach. Here the nose and ears got to do some digesting of their own in the abundance of sensory information the ocean provided, sea salted breeze, sound of rolling waves, seagulls crying out above, taste on the tongue of salt. I’m tired now, my beach walk needing to end. I’ll go home now, every sense full and ringing with my morning. Full. Happy. Peace.

I gave a talk, and I liked it

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of giving a talk to a group of talented healers. It was about ‘reading’ skills and its application in a clinical setting. I had prepared nicely for my topic, notes and practice so was feeling a little confident. Then 24 hours prior, Spirit began to suggest changes. I had sudden 'downloads' of phrases come to me, my attention was drawn to only a select number of sub topics and my layout felt out of kilter. Sigh. Being familiar at this stage with Spirit interjecting in my work, (and personal!) life, I paid attention and made relevant changes to my talk. I trusted the source from Spirit so knew the changes would only improve the experience for the listeners.
On the day of the talk the nerves were making themselves present; however I was confident in knowing my subject and Spirit's involvement was an indicator of the significance of what I was doing. Nerves managed. Afterwards, the feedback from the healers was wonderful and I couldn’t have wanted a nicer group to speak to. I came out of this with many more ideas, tweaks and plans. Watch this space!
