Ever wondered what our melanographers look for during a skin check? 🔍

Our melanographers carefully assess every spot, using dermoscopic imaging and support from Kāhu AI to flag areas that may need extra attention. Images are sent to a dermatologist to review and added to a detailed record, helping track subtle changes over time.

This thorough approach gives our patients the best chance at early detection.

“I never thought a tiny spot on my skin would turn into this.” 💛

Lindsey’s experience shows that skin cancer is never something small or simple. Every diagnosis, every surgery and every scar represents a very real journey. Listening to her instincts to get checked may have saved her from something worse.

We wish a smooth and speedy recovery as she continues to heal, both inside and out. That’s why regular skin checks and daily sun protection are so important for all of us.

70 years of outdoor work left one striking reminder of what the sun can do ☀️

Our very own Dr Lorna explains how decades of UV exposure can cause visible skin changes, from loss of elasticity to damage deep within the cells. These changes may not just age the skin but also increase the risk of skin cancer over time.

It’s a clear reminder of why daily SPF and regular skin checks matter more than ever.

Sun exposure is a major risk factor for skin cancer, but it is not the only one 🌞

Genetics, family history and skin type can all play a role in increasing risk. That is why protecting your skin with daily SPF and booking regular skin checks is so important.

It only takes a moment to assess your risk. Take our quick quiz via the link: https://www.molemap.co.nz/check-my-risk

Behind every melanoma statistic is a personal story that shows why awareness and action matter ➡️

Diagnosed with melanoma in 2011, Rick has faced the shock and challenges of cancer head-on. Today he is cancer-free, but his experience has fuelled his drive to support breakthroughs in melanoma research, helping others survive and live longer, healthier lives.

Every time we step outside, our skin is at risk, no matter how careful we are. That is why early detection, better tools and smarter treatments are essential.

The ABCDEFG rule is a simple way to remember what to look for:
🔸 A – Asymmetry
🔸 B – Border
🔸 C – Colour
🔸 D – Different
🔸 E – Evolving
🔸 F – Firm
🔸 G – Growing

If a spot shows any of these signs, it is important to get it checked. Early detection can save lives.

Sometimes skin cancer does not look like what you expect ☀️

Jackie’s basal cell carcinoma was tiny, subtle and easy to miss, but her yearly skin check picked it up. BCCs are highly treatable, but only if they are found and treated early.

This is your reminder to book regular skin checks and pay attention to changes on your skin, even if they seem small.

Not all skin checks are the same 🎥

A Skin Check gives you a thorough head-to-toe exam, while a Full Body MoleMap goes further with total body photography and detailed tracking of individual spots to detect changes over time.

Both are designed for early detection, but a Full Body MoleMap provides the most comprehensive record of your skin health.
