Class Spotlight: Jumpboard

If you are looking for a class that feels energising, dynamic, and a little different, Jumpboard might be for you.

This class combines the mindful principles of Pilates with low-impact cardio on the reformer, creating a workout that is both challenging and fun. Expect to work the legs, glutes, core, and upper body while building strength, endurance, balance, coordination, and control.

One of the things we love most about Jumpboard is that it gives you that uplifting, heart-raising feel of cardio, while still being supportive through the joints and grounded in good movement patterns.

Sarah’s Sunday morning class is a beautiful way to start the day feeling strong, focused, and refreshed.

Sundays at 8:00am

Pilates for Men

Most men think Pilates isn’t for them, or feel a bit out of place walking into their first class. We get that.

But here’s what we see every day.

Tradies, cyclists, golfers, athletes and everyday men walking in unsure, and walking out stronger, moving better, and coming back

Because Pilates isn’t about flexibility, it’s about strength, control, and fixing the gaps in your body

There’s a reason it’s often recommended by physiotherapists, doctors and rehab specialists.

It builds strength where your body actually needs it, supports your joints, improves how you move and helps prevent the injuries that come from overuse and imbalance.

Less back pain. Better posture. Improved performance. Strength where it actually matters!

At Balance Pilates Cashmere, our classes are fully guided by experienced, comprehensively trained Plates Specialists, where you won’t be left behind and you won’t feel out of place for long.

You don’t need experience, you don’t need to be flexible, you just need to start!

If you have been thinking about trying Pilates, or you know someone who could benefit, get in touch!

Client Review From Tom

My wife suggested I give Pilates a go. I wasn’t convinced – I didn’t think it would be a “proper” workout, and if I’m honest, I felt a bit uncomfortable about being the only guy in the room.
After twelve months at Balance in Cashmere, I’ve completely changed my view.

Firstly, it’s a serious workout. Every class pushes me deep into the pain cave – the same kind of muscle shake you get at the end of a heavy gym set.

Secondly, while there are usually more women than men (and I’m often the sweatiest and gruntiest one there), the environment is super welcoming and comfortable.
I’ve never felt out of place, and the instructors are awesome at adjusting movements to suit different builds, strength levels, and experience.

There have been some unexpected upsides too. Skiing, biking and running all feel more controlled and stable, and the lower back niggles I used to deal with have largely disappeared.

I’m fully converted. If you’re on the fence – especially as a guy – I’d strongly recommend giving Pilates at Balance a go.

There’s a lot of noise right now about strength training.

Lift heavier, build muscle, increase bone density. And yes, strength matters.

But here’s what often gets missed.

If your body doesn’t move well, your joints aren’t supported, and you lack balance, control or awareness, adding more load simply adds more strain. This is where injuries happen, not because people are weak, but because their bodies aren’t moving well.

This is where Pilates becomes essential.

There’s a reason it’s often recommended by physiotherapists, doctors and rehabilitation specialists.

Pilates builds strength, but in a way that supports your whole body. It improves core stability, posture and alignment, strengthens the smaller, deeper muscles that protect your joints, and enhances balance, coordination and proprioception.

Research consistently shows Pilates improves strength, balance, flexibility and overall physical performance, especially as we age. It can also reduce pain, improve quality of life, and support mental wellbeing.

And while heavier resistance training plays a role in building bone density, Pilates helps you move safely, efficiently and without injury, which is what keeps you consistent long term.

Because the goal isn’t just to be strong. It’s to be strong, stable, balanced and capable for life.

Pilates isn’t a trend. It’s the foundation.

How often should you do Pilates?
It’s a question we hear often in the studio.

The best answer is - often enough that your body can stay consistent, feel supported, and continue progressing.

That’s where real change begins to happen.

From the very beginning, Joseph Pilates designed his method around repetition, precision and mindful movement, not exhaustion or pushing the body to its limits. Pilates works best when it becomes a regular practice, allowing the body time to learn, adapt and improve.

With consistent sessions, your nervous system, joints and deep stabilising muscles begin to respond. Movement patterns become more natural, strength builds gradually, and your body starts to move with more ease and control.

For most people, 2–4 sessions per week is a wonderful rhythm.
It’s enough to build strength and momentum, while still allowing your body to recover and integrate the work.

Here’s how frequency tends to feel:
2 sessions per week - Supports strength, mobility and ongoing maintenance.

3 sessions per week - This is where many people begin to notice real progress, improved stability, posture and control.

4 sessions per week - A deeper level of practice where the work becomes more transformational and movement patterns truly change.

Pilates isn’t about doing more, it’s about practising well, and practising regularly.

As Joseph Pilates said:
"In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see the difference, and in 30 you'll have a whole new body."

It’s the consistency of the practice that creates the magic.

Why don't you try adding an additional class to your weekly practise, and see what magic you experience?
