lllawarra Flame Tree is a tall, spectacular tree found in coastal rainforests from Illawarra south of Sydney to Queensland. In its natural habitat it can grow as high as 30 metres. A mature Flame Tree has thick, wrinkled, grey outer bark and lacelike inner bark.
As the tree comes into flower, the leaves drop to expose a myriad of waxy, scarlet, bell-shaped flowers hanging in large clusters on similarly coloured, branching stems. The whole tree blazes as if aflame when in full bloom in early spring. Then new green leaves, up to 25 centimetres long, develop as the flowers wither. Older trees bear oval leaves, while the young trees have leaves divided into five lobes which look like a hand reaching out.
Because of the properties of this essence, it wouldn’t be surprising if the outstretched hand was asking to be accepted. The Flame Tree essence is for people who often feel rejected. They feel left out quite easily and are very deeply hurt when they do perceive rejection—real or imaginary.
