Our last patients for the year will be discharged this morning to spend Christmas with their families.

The Hospital will close today and reopen for surgeries Tuesday, 13 January 2026.

Here are a few key dates to keep in mind:
- Last day for stayover surgery: 22 December
- All stayover patients discharged: 23 December
- Last day for day surgery: 23 December
- Hospital closes: 23 December
- Surgery resumes: Tuesday 13 January 2026

We’re underway! Last week we welcomed our new hospital facility construction partner Naylor Love on site to begin the build that will substantially expand Forté's capacity for elective surgery.

Due for completion in mid-2027, this significant investment will increase our theatres from five to nine, and bed numbers from 22 to 61, including a special care unit to allow for more complex, longer-stay surgeries like joint replacements, bariatric and cancer surgery.

We are replacing paper forms with a new digital system that delivers the right information at the right time, straight to patients’ mobile devices.

In partnership with Personify Care and co-designed with patients and staff, this new pathway removes delays, reduces stress, and helps people feel more prepared for surgery.

It’s not just about going digital. It’s about making care more accessible, inclusive, and human.
