While Te Wiki o te Reo Māori | Māori Language Week ends here, our commitment to do our best for Te Reo is all year round.

While we continue our Reo journey, we keep our focus on the future – one where healthcare is equally accessible for speakers of all of our nation’s languages 💚

This whakatauākī or proverb was shared with us by our Cultural Support Advisor, Eru Waitī (Ngāti Pikiao, Te Arawa), and reminds us of our purpose at Forté.

Kia ora rā!

This Wiki o te Reo Māori | Māori Language Week we’re practicing some kupu that we’d love to hear more around our hospital. You don’t have to get it perfect – it’s all about sharing and celebrating our national language.

Have you heard or seen these words around the hōhipera before? 🏥

Ngā mihi o te Wiki o te Reo Māori 💚 Celebrating Māori Language Week

Since 2023, we’ve proudly featured bilingual signage throughout our hospital, with both of our official written languages: te reo Māori alongside English.

Take a tour through this pronunciation guide we created back in 2023 to hear our tohu reorua | bilingual signage pronounced.

Forté Health has officially broken ground on a major expansion in Christchurch! 🏥

This morning, work began on our new state-of-the-art facility on Kilmore St, next to our existing hospital. This new facility will triple bed capacity, add four operating theatres, and support more complex surgeries like joint replacements and cancer care.

The site was honoured with a blessing ceremony led by mana whenua, alongside Forté staff and stakeholders for a moment of reflection and shared purpose.

This project marks a huge step forward for private healthcare in Canterbury and we are beyond excited to welcome you to our new facility in 2027. 💚

Supporting the health and wellbeing of our community goes far beyond our hospital's doors

The new Christchurch Youth Hub is doing incredible mahi with young people in our city. It's a truly unique place that provides 10-25 year olds access to the support they need - from mental health to housing help - all under one roof.

Thanks for all you do to support those who need it most - we’re incredibly proud to say that we’re now an official supporter of your vital work.

We're thrilled to share that our PACU Nursing team has been presented with the Youth Health Award, a recognition for exceptional care in the health system, usually reserved for individuals.

A young woman who was nervous about her gynaecological surgery due to past negative experiences with other healthcare providers was so impressed with our PACU Nurses that she nominated the whole team for the award.

The award was presented by Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Youth Advisory Council, a volunteer-led group advocating for and representing youth in the Waitaha Canterbury health sector.

Council Co-Chair Anna Ashton says our team made the young woman feel safe, listened to and cared for which made all the difference.

Thanks for the award guys - we think our recovery nurses are pretty awesome too!

We believe that when you feel valued and supported, you can do your best work. That’s why every team member at Forté receives five weeks of annual leave each year. It’s our way of saying: take the time you need to rest, recharge, and enjoy life outside of work.
