With Covid 19 circulating more widely in our community it’s time to talk about recovery.
Everyone who has Covid 19 will have different recovery journeys, but the main thing is to take it easy, rest up and drink plenty water!

Not drinking enough water when unwell can cause mucous in your lungs to thicken and become hard to cough up, this puts you at a greater risk of complications, such as pneumonia, that may require hospitalisation.
Your body is in catch-up mode post Covid, hence why plenty of rest and sleep is required.
Eating energy and protein rich foods like meat, fish, chicken, eggs, dairy/alternatives (cheese, milk, yoghurt), beans/legumes, nuts/seeds and tofu is important.
Pushing yourself to exercise too hard and too soon after Covid can potentially lead to long Covid. These return to exercise phases are a good place to start: https://www.healthnavigator.org.nz/health-a-z/c/covid-19-positive-exercise/.

A gradual return to your daily activities is recommended, even if your Covid 19 symptoms were mild.
See the link below for some more useful information:
https://covid19.govt.nz/isolation-and-care/after-you-have-had-covid-19/

If you are concerned about any aspect of your recovery please contact a health professional.

PLUS if you didn’t get around to having your Covid booster dose it is suggested you get it three months after contracting Covid. This is still worth while as your immunity from catching it wanes after this time and you can then catch the next variant.
Go to this site to find out where you can access the vaccine.
