When it comes to metabolic health and nutrition, it’s often the hardest change—the one you resist the most—that has the greatest potential to improve your energy, mood, hormones, and long-term wellbeing.

But here’s the truth is:
Change usually feels harder before it feels better.

When you begin shifting a deeply ingrained habit—especially around food—your brain and body often protest. It’s unfamiliar. It takes effort. You miss the comfort of old routines. This is completely normal.

Think of it like setting off on a steep uphill trail. The beginning feels overwhelming, but the path does get easier. You build momentum. You start to feel better. Eventually, it becomes second nature.

The size and steepness of that “hill” depends on:
✔️ How big a change you’re making
✔️ Your personal starting point—health history, stress, metabolism, beliefs, emotions

And most importantly…
It is A LOT less challenging if you don’t have to climb that hill alone.
With the right support—nutritional guidance, emotional backing, practical tools—the whole process becomes easier and more effective.

Zucchini and Carrot Muffins 🥕

Serves: 6
⏱Preparation Time: 30 mins

INGREDIENTS
800 grams Zucchini (grated)
400 gram Carrot
½ Red Onion
2 cups Baby Spinach
8 Egg
1 ½ cups Almond Flour (can use any gluten free flour of choice)

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and line a 6 cup muffin tray.
2. Squeeze out all of the moisture from the grated zucchini; you can use a
cheesecloth, or clean tea towel.
3. Put the squeezed and grated zucchini into a large bowl. Add all of the other
ingredients to the bowl. Mix well and season to taste.
4. Spoon the mixture into the muffin tray. Bake for 20-30 minutes until
cooked through and golden on top.
5. Remove from oven and allow to cool. These can be stored in the refrigerator for
up to 3-4 days, or in the freezer for longer.
6. You can also use this mixture to make fritters. Using a large fry pan on medium
heat, melt some coconut oil. Drop about a 1/4 measure into the pan (you could
probably fit 3 at a time), and flatten out. Once the fritter is just over half cooked,
flip it over and cook the other side until golden. These can also be frozen!

Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science 🔬 🥳
This day recognises the critical role women and girls play in science and technology (pretty great day 👍)

A big shout out to all the awesome women in science that I have worked with over the years and especially those in Aussie who I miss dearly 😢

Also thought I would mention one of my favourite famous woman in science, Lucy Wills 🥼 She is not only top of my list because of her contribution to nutritional science but also because she was an amazing haematologist (scientist of blood),and in my opinion that’s where all the coolest scientist work 😉
In the 1930s Lucy’s research lead to the discovery of a nutritional factor in yeast (marmite) that both prevents and cures macrocyctic anemia. The ‘Wills Factor’ as it was called was later shown to be folate (B9). Folate is essential in cell growth and reproduction. Most of you are probably familiar with folic acid (synthetic form of folate) and its importance in the early stages of pregnancy for the reduction of neural tube defects. Folate is found in lots of foods including green leafy vegetables, citrus fruit, legumes and avocados however it is hard to get the necessary amount of folate from food during pregnancy so it is essential for women to take folic acid at least four weeks before conception and 12 weeks after conception🤰
