Wondering what happens in a respiratory consultation?

CanBreathe’s Respiratory Nurse Educators take the time to understand your or your whānau member’s breathing condition, including lifestyle, environment, medication, and anything that may be affecting symptoms.

From there, they can help you build a self-management plan, so you know what to look out for and what to do if your breathing gets worse.

Free consultations are available at CanBreathe’s office or in your home.

Christchurch lights up blue tomorrow for World Asthma Day 💙

On Tuesday 5 May, a number of Christchurch landmarks will be illuminated in blue to raise awareness of asthma and show support for people affected in our community.

Look out for:

If you’ve had multiple courses of oral steroids, you might have already passed the 1000mg lifetime threshold. That’s roughly four standard courses.

After that point, your possibility of long-term side effects becomes likely.

Oral steroids can be life-saving during serious asthma flare-ups, but too many can start to cause harm.

Learn more about how you can reduce your need for them.
