Huge congratulations to Hamish Kerr on his epic win in the men's high jump at the Paris Olympics.
He showed tremendous mental fortitude in qualifying when he was under pressure and, again, in the final when he was in the jump-off for the gold medal.
A great effort from a great guy who had this to say about his yoga practice at ApolloPowerYoga: "Thank you again, it has helped me physically, but also hugely mentally".

Today is International Day of Meditation.
Meditation is stilling the disturbances and distractions of mind. Meditation is slowing down. Meditation is a practice of concentration and discipline of awareness. Meditation is an access to presence and inner peace. It is a way out of reaction and stress response. There is every reason why and no reason why not. Sit and be still. Breathe and watch the ebb and flow of your breath. Let go the thought stream and secure your awareness to the mooring post of your breath now.

Another beautiful dawn at Apollo Power Yoga in Ferrymead. There is something very special about the crisp, clear vitality of morning air. It is also a different sensation to begin practice in the dark and to have the sun come up during class rather than the other way around.
