In our final week of the Winter Yoga Challenge, we journey through the upper chakras – the energy centres that guide us into deeper truth, insight, and unity:

Vishuddhi | Throat Chakra – Governs communication and authentic self-expression
Ajna | Third Eye Chakra – Seat of intuition, inner vision, and clarity.
Sahasrara | Crown Chakra – Gateway to stillness, surrender, and connection to the divine.

Expect practices that include:
⭐ Neck and shoulder opening
⭐ Introspective flows and meditation
⭐ Breathwork, visualisation, and deep rest e.g. Yoga Nidra

Welcome to Week 2 of the Winter Yoga Challenge! To keep you inspired, each week we're moving through the 7 main energy centres or chakras, moving upward along the central energy channel or sushumna nadiπŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Understanding these chakras helps us better understand ourselves – they are a map of our energetic and spiritual evolution.

🟑 Solar Plexus & Heart | Manipura & Anahata 🟒

This week, we arrive at the third and fourth chakras, the centres of power and love.

β˜€οΈ Manipura – Navel Chakra is the seat of our inner fire (agni), personal power, and transformation. Here, we build the strength and clarity to act with purpose and let go of what no longer serves us.

πŸ’š Anahata – Heart Chakra is the bridge between body and spirit, grounded in love, compassion, and connection. Through this centre, we open to the experience of unconditional love both towards self and others.

Expect yoga practices that focus on:
⭐ Core work and twists to stoke the inner fire (agni) and clarify intention
⭐ Heart-opening and backbending poses to expand into love and release resistance
⭐ Pranayama (yogic breathwork) and devotional practices (like kirtan) to deepen inner connection

πŸ”΄ Root & Sacral | Muladhara & Svadhisthana 🟠

This week, we begin our journey through the chakras by connecting with the two lower centres, the foundation of our being – the Root (Muladhara) and Sacral (Svadhisthana) chakras.

🌳 Muladhara – Root Chakra grounds us in stability, strength, and security.
🌊 Svadhisthana – Sacral Chakra invites flow, creativity, and emotional expression.

Together, they help us feel safe in our bodies, connected to the earth, and free to move and feel.

Expect yoga practices that focus on:
⭐ Grounding and strengthening the legs, feet, and pelvic floor
⭐ Opening the hips and releasing stored emotion
⭐ Cultivating steadiness and fluidity, on and off the mat e.g. through the Yamas and Niyamas (the first two β€˜limbs’ of the 8 limbed Ashtanga Yoga system)
