What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a manual medicine and a holistic medicine. This means that we use our hands to assess and treat a patient, plus we look at the body as a whole.
We offer a range of approaches to treatment including gentle techniques, massage-like techniques, articulation and mobilisation of joints. The methods we use will depend on your body type, the problems you present with, and your personal preferences.
The body is one functional unit, meaning all areas are interconnected this is why osteopaths may provide relief by treating an area seemingly unrelated to your symptoms.
Each individual has their own pattern of strain which needs to be addressed to restore proper function to their body and a pain free state. Our patients are often surprised when they finally find relief from chronic pain once they try osteopathy.
Osteopaths work within their scope of practice and refer to other healthcare professionals as required.
