MMPO Office Hours during the festive season:
- We will be closing at 12:30pm on 24 December and 31 December, respectively.
- We will be open 29, 30 and 31 December - only closing for the public holidays.
- Opening hours between 29 December 2025, up to and including 16 January 2026, will be 8:30am – 5:00pm where we will be operating with a skeleton staff.

Voluntary bonding scheme applications open for graduate midwives

Health NZ has confirmed that graduate midwives working in any setting who qualified prior to 31 December 2024 are eligible to apply for the Voluntary Bonding Scheme. Registrations of interest (ROI) are now invited via the Health NZ website for a four week period from 21 November to 19 December 2025. Registrants will be advised in 2026 if they have been accepted or not. A further ROI for those who graduate in 2025, and categories will be provided in early 2026. State of Emergency – Canterbury High Winds

Due to the current state of emergency in Canterbury caused by high winds, it’s possible that our team may experience power outages or disruptions.

New National Funding for all eligible LMC Midwives – Antenatal Immunisations

Thanks to sustained advocacy and collaborative work across the sector, we are excited to share that Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) has contracted the MMPO to deliver a new national service enabling all eligible Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) midwives to be funded for providing antenatal vaccinations. To be eligible, the LMC midwife must be entitled to claim from the Notice (Section 94).
