Wise Ways Wednesday: Fuelling your Flow
Before starting up for the day, do your pre-flight checks. Before the day gets away on you, check in with yourself. ✈️⛽
We have just marked the end of Women of Aviation Worldwide Week 2026. I love the tagline from their website: “Let’s weave some pink in aviation”. As it happens, I was already wearing the perfect jumper for the job!
While the official celebrations have wrapped up, for me, these two worlds, the hangar and the mat, constantly overlap.
By day, I’m in the Radar Centre as an Air Traffic Controller, but my foundation in aviation started here, in the early 2000’s with the hands-on essentials.
In honour of the week that was, I’m sharing a few “pre-flight” lessons that I carry into my wellness practice every single day.
1. How much is in the tank?
In aviation, we never take off without knowing exactly how much fuel we have. In our daily lives, we often try to “fly” on empty.
Today, take a second to pause: Do I actually have the energy for what I’m about to do, or am I running on fumes?
2. Quality matters.
You wouldn’t put the contaminated fuel in an aircraft and expect it to keep you airborne.
The same goes for your mind. Are you fuelling your day with nourishment, rest and connection, or high-octane stress?
3. Trust the signals.
At the radar centre, I trust and make decisions based on the data in front of me.
In your wellness practice, trust what your body is telling you. If it says you’re tired, don’t ignore your gauge.
This isn’t a signal not to move; it is an invitation to modify the intensity of your movements to meet you as you are in that moment. As the well known saying goes - Motion is the lotion of life!
The official week may be over, but the work of guiding the blue above and navigating the deep blue within continues. 🌊✨
To all the women who spent the last week celebrating our industry, let’s keep the momentum flying!
