The Winter Slow Down
Winter is almost a time for hibernation, everything slows a bit, even our body's. We prefer hot soup over a salad, being wrapped up in warm woolies and test going outside in the morning for a walk before fully committing to it.
Even my dog just puts his nose out the door now, sniffs and looks as if to say "you're kidding, right? Outside now, in this, for a walk ... you're mad".
Mad maybe, but it is still good to keep moving. Short walks in the fresh air, light stretching, or restorative movement (meaning active stretches) helps circulation and mood - vital in winterâs slower pace.
Even hydrating well is still important, but warm water helps, as does tea (yes tea is classed as water intake, sorry coffee drinkers you have to drink more water).
And good nourishing food, winter foods of soups, heart warming casseroles and similar are good for us. Especially as nowadays not many of us have fires. Sitting in front a roaring fire warms you to your. bones.
Sitting in front of a heat pump just isn't the same...
Here's some simple Jin Shin techniques to help also...
Use these simple to support your energy flow and immune system during the colder months:
1. Boost the Immune System: Hold Your Index Finger
The index finger is related to the kidney energy (which governs winter vitality). Gently hold one index finger at a time for a few minutesâgreat for fear, fatigue, and lower back support too.
2. Support Lung & Large Intestine: Hold SEL 11
Place your right hand on your left shoulder (SEL 11) and left hand on the right sit bone (or vice versa). This harmonises breathing energy and helps clear congestion.
3. Warm the Body: Use the Umbilicus Flow
Place your right hand on your navel and your left hand on your tailbone (or base of the spine). Stay here for 5+ minutes to support core warmth and circulation. You will feel warmer after doing it (who needs fires anyway).
But try these and again, if you start feeling unwell call, text or email me and I can tell you some specific techniques to do tailored to you and what is going on. We also have Immune Boost homeopathics, along with our Energy Boost, Stress Relief and Aches&Pains remedies also if you need them. I can send them out too if you like.
Remember, winter is a time to restore and rebuild. If youâd like extra support this monthâwhether itâs for energy, digestion, immunity, or emotional stressâreach out anytime to book your next session.
Stay warm, stay kind to yourself, and enjoy this deeply nurturing season.
