The Stress of Kiwi Christmas + Simple Calming Tips

Christmas in New Zealand can feel like a whirlwind - end-of-year rush, school events, summer holidays to plan, family expectations, and trying to wrap everything up before the country shuts down! 😅🎄☀️

If you’re feeling the pressure building, you’re not alone.
Here are a few simple JSJ (Jin Shin Jyutsu) self-help techniques to help calm the nervous system:

🖐 Hold Your Thumb – great for easing worry and overthinking.
🤚 Hold Your Middle Finger – helps release anger, frustration, and “I’m over it” energy.
✋ Hold the Base of Your Shoulder – place your right hand on your left shoulder and vice-versa. Amazing for releasing tension & helping you breathe better.
💛 Place hands on the base of your rib area – especially good when emotions feel tight or overwhelming.

And some gentle reminders as we head toward the big day:

✨ You don’t need a “perfect” Christmas.
✨ Rest is allowed, even in December.
✨ Say no to what drains you and yes to what feels nourishing.
✨ Make small pockets of space to breathe, stretch, or simply sit in the sunshine.

✨ Place your right hand over your heart + left hand over abdomen — breathe for 1–2 minutes
✨ Chew slowly and pause before meals — helps digestion switch on!
✨ Hold the base of your rib cage - left ribs relate to carbohydrate digestion and right protein. (with the Christmas goodies of cake, sweets and more this is great to get working before the overload)
