Pain Specialist now at iBod Clevedon
We are very pleased to announce that the super experienced and talented Dr Nick Penney is now practicing at iBod Clevedon, every Monday from 13 June 2022.
Nick has over 40 years’ experience as an Osteopath, having originally qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in London in 1980.
Nick was part of the National Health Committee/ACC group who produced the New Zealand Acute Low Back Pain clinical practice guidelines in 1997, the scientific advice that was provided to all health care practitioners who saw people with acute low back pain (back pain that has lasted less than 3 months).
Nick then went on to complete his doctoral degree in Musculoskeletal Medicine at The Centre for National Research on Disability & Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Queensland, in 2009. During this time he also served as an expert low back pain panel member on the Australian Acute Musculoskeletal Guidelines Group, and founded ’The Osteopath’ on the Sunshine Coast with partner Shelley Joe.
Returning to NZ in 2012 Nick ran one of the most successful ACC pain management services (based on patient outcomes) through Integrative Pain Care in Remuera, leaving in July 2021 to focus on his private practice, and mindfulness teaching. Nick also trained to teach mindfulness based cognitive therapy, a first line treatment for depression, whilst in Australia, and combines mindfulness techniques in his management of chronic pain, particularly when complicated by depression and anxiety.
Nick combines his Osteopathic skills with an evidence-based understanding of musculoskeletal medicine and the biopsychosocial model of pain. He also teaches evidence-based mindfulness programs to adults and children to help overcome a wide range of chronic health conditions and create wellbeing.
Nick looks forward to meeting you all and supporting you with your future health.
