🪵 WorkSafe is visiting wood manufacturers in 2026 – are you ready?

From January to March 2026, WorkSafe New Zealand will be carrying out proactive assessment visits across the country, with a specific focus on the wood product manufacturing sector.

These visits are about engagement and education, but they will still look closely at how well key health risks are being managed — including:
• Wood dust exposure
• Fumes and hazardous substances
• Machinery safety, guarding and maintenance
• Worker training and supervision

Last year, 73% of businesses visited by WorkSafe identified health and safety improvements as a result of these interactions.

We're thrilled to announce a New Zealand first! 🎉

We are currently the only provider of the Svantek SV 200A Noise Monitoring Station for hire. This cutting-edge equipment features six class-one microphones for precise noise directivity detection, allowing us to pinpoint dominant noise sources both vertically and horizontally in a 360 degree field. With the onboard recordings, we can then listen to those exact noise sources.

This innovative tool is perfect for accurately identifying the main contributors to noise in any given area or for ignoring irrelevant disturbances, providing comprehenisve data for our noise monitoring clients.

As we work with our client under the majestic Mt Pūtauaki in the Bay of Plenty, we're reminded of the local Māori legend... hopefully, we won't pick up Whakaari calling out for Pūtauaki! 🌋

SafeAIde is a a machine-learned reference database tool of all current New Zealand legislation, best practice guidelines, general information, and standards, from WorkSafe New Zealand, and safety regulators in New South Wales Australia and Canada. Search over 200,000 reference points in under 10 seconds!

Being focused only on our reference data, we are seeing no hallucinations or irrelevant data leaking into the outputs. While the answer tone will never be like a true southerner, its not the typical AI either. SafeAIde is not intended to replace consultants, advisors, or managers it is a tool that everyone could use to to ensure advice is inline with best practice.
