A big thank you to all our volunteers 2024!
You guys all rock and truly enlighten the lives of our residents in so many ways. We are very lucky to have you and many others entertaining our residents on a regular basis. Unfortunately, not everyone could make it to our volunteers morning tea on Thursday, 5 December 2024, but you were all in our thoughts.šŸ’•

Happy Halloween everybody!šŸ‘»It’s been another fantastic week. We’ve never really celebrated Halloween before, but thought to give it a try this year. We set up a ā€˜Grotto’ in the Nevis Lounge which has been a hit with our residents and we had a lot of positive feedback. The Grotto will be available for about another week. Let us know if you would like to come and have a look. Family and friends are most welcome. Huge thanks to Blinda to be my ā€˜Grotto Set Up Buddy’. Many hours went into creating a bit of spookiness and fun, a lot outside work hours. The result speaks for itself. There is a little Koha/Donation Box on the table for money which will go back to the Activities Department. For now…Watch this space as there will be more coming in our next post. Until then….šŸŽƒšŸ¦‡šŸ‘»PS: don’t forget to have the sound onā€¦šŸ˜‰

Kia Ora and Hello to you all! A well overdue update is on order. There is always lots to do for our residents here at a Ripponburn and we try our best to involve each one as much as we can and as much as each resident wishes to participate in. We highly value resident’s Birthdays of which we had a few to celebrate over the last weeks and make each Birthday very special. We are and have been very fortunate to have volunteers come in and perform music wise such as the Cromwell Ukulele Group, the Cromwell Community Choir and music performances during our Happy Hours. A definite highlight was a visit from the NZ Army Band. Their calibre of musicians is amazing and it is very special to have them come and visit every year. Regular pet visits and outings are also part of the programme. Further highlights were: a trip to the Blossom Festival in Alexandra, hosting a Caroline Eve Fashion Show, a Ladies’ shopping trip to Alexandra, a Men’s trip to the Clyde Dam and making/growing ā€˜Grass Heads’ to mention a few. We are now preparing for Halloween. Exciting! So…. Watch this space.

Ripponburn’s latest update: Crafts, decorations, celebrations, dress-ups, a special visit, ā€˜outings’. One Highlight was a trip to Highlands Motorsport Park for a Post-Father’s Day afternoon tea. Another highlight was a visit from one of our staff and husband with their Harley Davidson on Saturday as a Pre-Father’s Day surprise. Residents sat outside and had the chance to have a look at the bike and a few discussions made it very social. Time is marching on and Spring has arrived. Enjoy the sunshine everyone.🌼

Lots of activities have happened over the past weeks. Here’s a little summary of a few fun and entertaining moments. Baking (Ginger Nuts), Van Outing to Light Up Cromwell, Van Outings to Bannockburn and the Racecourse (visiting Sid), French Dress Up day, Olympic Quiz Prize Giving (we’ve had many residents receiving Certificates and Medals!) and Wacky Hair Day. Fun was definitely had by all according to the feedback from our residents.

It certainly feels like Winter! Our residents celebrated a Mid Winter in the Nevis Lounge with Music and a Christmas Quiz last week Tuesday. A lot of effort went into decorating the lounge and a delicious meal. Our ā€˜kitchen fairies’ did an outstanding job and the lounge looked beautiful. Our staff member Blinda must have brought her entire collection of decorations from home! Amazing! Thank you very much. Our residents gave us a lot of positive feedback. The Mid Winter Raffle was won by one of our Village residents and a resident from the Kawarau Wing. Wishing you all a good week. Keep warm.
