Right now there is a split phenomenon going on....
Weight loss drugs are trending worldwide versus body positivity and nourishment for health.
Yet neither addresses what is the motivation behind someone wanting or needing to lose weight or even if it's necessary based on their current health status.
When new clients come to me they say they want to eat better, get in control of their food cravings and improve their relationship with eating.
Yet, once we have aligned their eating and they lose weight as a result without it being a main focus they reveal they would actually like to get their body back to what they once had before their lifestyle changed.
So I'm curious what you think?
Being pregnant and gaining 10kg in my 40's I can feel the extra pressure on my joints and pelvis so for those wanting to ease pain & inflammation I can understand the motive for losing weight for health.
It doesn't stop how I feel about myself as a person.
Yet when we gain weight without a reason there's so much guilt & shame attached to it.
Releasing weight to feel better about yourself doesn't last unless you get to the root cause of why you want your body to change.
For decades the words 'weight loss' has been deemed negative and judgemental yet in a world where stress and symptoms are at an all time high people are getting curious about quick fixes again with the rise of drugs for weight loss.
So this tells me people want weight loss - right?
However for those that have energy, no symptoms but feel their body isn't good enough just as it is - this is where my concern lies.
What a dichotomy we are exposed to at the moment - I'm keen to hear your thoughts and experiences.
We know the saying 'eat in moderation' but being healthy is so much more than the weight our body holds and seems there's a deeper relationship to food and our bodies that grows behind the scenes.
So is this rising trend for health or self esteem ?
Because I can't see how this is a viable option for long term health promotion if a drug is required to sustain a result.
