📣 GOUT 101: LET’S TALK PREVENTION & TREATMENT 💊
Gout is a type of arthritis that causes sudden, painful swelling in the joints, often in the big toe, foot, or ankle. It is common in our community and can have a big impact on daily life, but with the right support, it can be managed effectively.
🥩 WHAT CAUSES GOUT?
Gout happens when uric acid (a natural waste product) builds up in the blood and forms sharp crystals in the joints. This can be caused by certain foods and drinks, other health conditions, or a family history of gout.

Making small changes to your daily habits can help lower uric acid levels and reduce the risk of a flare-up:
🚰 Drink water often
🥗 Choose foods lower in purines and limit alcohol and sugary drinks
🏃♀️ Stay active and aim for a healthy weight
📅 Book regular check‑ups and uric acid blood tests

Gout is treatable, and acting quickly can help you feel better, recover faster, and protect your joints:
