COVID-19 UPDATE
The team at J Marr hope everyone is keeping safe and well and looking out for their friends and family. With level 3 continuing our main treatment available remains telehealth services. The value of telehealth shouldn’t be underestimated, we are still able to assess and diagnose your injury/condition, provide advice, management tips, tailored exercise and rehab programmes, create ACC claims and refer for imaging such a as x-rays and ultrasound scans. We are also able to refer to sports doctors and orthopaedic surgeons if this is required. Under level 3 there are a few urgent/essential physio treatments that can take place face-to-face, there is specific criteria for these treatments, get in touch with us to discuss this further! So don’t put up with pain or discomfort, get in touch and we are sure you’ll be surprised by how much we can help you through the screen!

Getting quality sleep is often an overlooked factor in both recovery from an injury/exercise and in injury prevention. While people might rush for a foam roller or spend time stretching (both still useful!), sleep is an extremely important part of recovery following exercise and for injury recovery. As the results from the study below show sleep is also linked to injury rates, youth athletes who were getting less than 8 hours sleep were much more likely to get injured. Prioritising getting a good nights sleep is important for many aspects of life and injury prevention is one of them!

Yay for the good news about the move to Alert Level 3 tomorrow! For us at the clinic not a lot changes, telehealth remains the main treatment available during level 3, however, what is exciting is that our builders can get back to work!

With the majority of people still working from home I thought I'd share this picture one of physios Nicki created to help with your desk set-up, it is always challenging to get your work from home desk right, but there are some useful tips in the picture! As always, it is important to take micro-breaks to have a quick stretch/stand up/move around, remember - your best posture is your next posture!

It is so important to keep moving and active in our bubbles during this lockdown. The Australasian College of Sports and Exercise Physicians released this document last year which has a great summary of ways to keep active while working from home and about getting outside for some regular exercise. Even a short walk, some time gardening or a bubble dance party all counts as exercise! Keep moving and stay safe from all the team at J Marr Physio, lets get co-fit!

COVID UPDATE
Kia Ora, hope everyone is keeping safe and well in their bubbles and a big thanks to any essential workers for all your hard work, we all really appreciate it!
With Level 4 being extended it sadly means we won’t be able to get back into the clinic for another couple of weeks. We will return to the clinic in some form of normality at Level 2 with extra cleaning/hygiene measures, mask wearing and physical distancing in place.
In the meantime, we are still here to help – if you are a current patient and have any questions about your injury or rehabilitation please get in touch with your physio or send a message to this page and I can get you in touch with the right person. We also welcome any new patients to contact us via email (office@jmarrphysio.co.nz), phone (09 2947062) or facebook and we can set up a telehealth call to assess your injury, offer advice and exercise base rehabilitation and can still do ACC claims. Don’t put up with pain/discomfort and wait until Level 2, there is a lot we can do to help over telehealth!
Let’s all do the right things so we can get out of this lockdown as soon as possible – stay in your bubbles, get tested if required and get vaccinated! Kia Kaha.

COVID-19 UPDATE
As I am sure you have all heard today, as of midnight tonight we will be entering level 4 lockdown. This means the clinic will be closed, if you have an appointment scheduled in the next week your physio will be in touch to offer telehealth as an option or to reschedule your appointment. We will keep you updated on when the clinic will be able to open again between both COVID alert levels and getting our new roof on! Please get in touch if you need any assistance, telehealth proved to be a very valuable tool in our last lockdown and we are happy to help with a video call treatment. Stay home, stay safe and look after each other. Hopefully this lockdown is short and sharp, let’s stamp this thing out!

We’re expanding! You may have noticed some construction at the clinic. We are in the process of adding some space to have a gym attached to the clinic along with a revamp of the current building. We look forward to keeping you updated with the progress and offering some gym based classes/treatment sessions when it is all up and running!

COVID-19 UPDATE
Following the move to alert level 3 tonight, the clinic will be shut until Thursday 18th Feb while we await further updates. If you have an appointment booked in the next three days, your physiotherapist will be in touch to discuss the option of telehealth or rescheduling your appointment.
