Some good news, we have decided to continue to share our favourite DIY natural cleaner recipes when we commence Hippy Soap Co, like our Multi-Surface Cleaner, our Toilet Cleaning Gel & Spray, and our AromaPourri Air Freshener & Linen Spray, all with no vinegar in sight. These recipes will be no charge. I just want to share the love.

Just a heads up, we have had to delay opening Hippy Soap Co by a few weeks, due to a lovely outbreak of shingles. The cancer treatment from last year took too much out of this poor body, but we will be up and running as soon as possible, I will give a quick post just before opening.

Today we have good news and bad news. In about eight weeks time we are back into business with Hippy Soap Co. I have remained cancer free, after recovering a few side effects due to the treatment so am now in top form again. Cancer is something I have lived with and survived before, so I always remain hopeful.

The Barefoot Hippy will close midnight 31 August so if you want to grab the recipes we have shared there, now is the time to get them.

We have 8 new soaps we will be making, as well as bundles, a collection of preselected soaps to delight and nourish.

This page and the website will revert to Hippy Soap Co on 1 September. We look forward to doing business with you all.

So how good is our dish soap? Well I think the results speak for them selves. We used to buy a very popular natural dishwash, and then I decided to tweak until I created a grease cutting, non streak, really efficient dish soap that actually ended up being better quality. Try it out for yourself.

Ever since I started Hippy Soap Co, I became obsessed with spreadsheets, for an older duck in her 50s this was a fun learning curve, after never having learnt excel prior. As I have a Macbook Numbers soon become a favourite tool, I learnt I could budget easier, articulating every cost.

We all know that the cost of living has sky rocketed, but here in our house we are saving more. I hadn't updated the grocery spreadsheet for near on 2 years as knowing the costs were dropping for us. Today I sat down and articulated each cost and from where. What has saved us significantly is us making our own dish wash, laundry wash, and household cleaners. I am looking forward to sharing our secret recipes with you in the coming weeks. We never make other peoples products, we formulate our own. In true hippy form, each recipe is unique in every way.

Happy New Year every one. I hope your year has started out as good as my one. The good news is I am currently cancer free, so have been embracing the time being free of treatment by painting up surplus furniture, and on-selling it. The paint I use is my own DIY chalk paint powder that I mix with Resene paints. As you can see it leaves a lovely matt finish. I have ben using my paints for years, and now that I have time I will be doing up a lot of tired old bits. I look forward to sharing with you the recipe in the coming weeks.
Plus we have other good news coming, so watch this space.

Using Kawakawa for cancer

Is there space for Natural treatments along with conventional treatments to teat cancer? In my opinion yes on all levels. I would never proclaim one treatment is a cure all, but using the two together can work in harmony.

As I work my way through my various treatments for my uterine cancer I am using Kawakawa for a multitude of uses.

I am a knitter, having self taught over 20 years ago. I have often knitted gloves and hats etc. So knowing I was in need of a hat to keep me warm through this winter as I underwent my various cancer treatments I sought a hat that would cover my head with style. The Riyan Cloche’ Designed by Heidi May of The Velvet Acorn appealed to me https://www.etsy.com/nz/listing/161029131/knitting-pattern-the-riyan-cloche. Here is my version, a hat that has gained many compliments.
