Great catch up with my old friend and fellow research co-author Prof Victor Kong!

Victor and I met as house officers in Ireland, before both moving to New Zealand for advanced training. He gave me my very first referral as a Day 1 Surgical SHO!

Fast forward to 16 years and here we are, sitting in Chin Chin and reminiscing about years past !

What a wonderful weekend away at the ANZMOSS Integrated Health meeting, culminating with an all star cast of senior bariatric surgeons quizzing the Fellows in a "Shark Tank" style session.

Amazing to be able to be in the same room with such influential surgeons here in Australasia and to be able to understand their thinking and management style!

Looking forward to the next one in Canberra !

Pre clinic team coffee - after a multidisciplinary team "grand round" attended by all team members.

It's a great opportunity to get to know the team, but also chat about difficult cases and novel techniques. I look forward to this every Thursday and can't wait to start something like this when I get back to Dunedin...

Giving two talks today - one to our nursing staff on a new endoscopic technique of managing complex oesophageal/gastric issues which I've started here in called EndoSponge. It is used around the world in many large centres, and has changed the paradigm of how surgeons manage these patients. Educating the nurse will help ensure our patients get the best level care.

Another talk is to our house officers who may be considering a career in surgery - something I'm passionate about - training potential new colleagues !
