Akatore Massage Therapy Born and raised on a sheep farm in Northern Southand, I spent most of my youth creating a strong work ethic on the farm while enjoying an array of sports.

With a bachelors degree qualification my goal is to help rehabilitate, reduce pain, increase movement and improve quality of life throughout the body using a range of techniques. I’ve been a competitive horse rider for the last 20 years, pursued athletics (mainly high jump) up to a national level, hockey for 15 years, social badminton for 15 years, also a little dabble in kayaking, and football. I

studied a 3-year bachelor's degree in sport and therapeutic massage therapy, graduating in 2019. From there I have worked in a few different locations but finally settling in Dunedin in 2023. I have completed a dry needling course and continued my professional development by learning new skills that can help me become a better clinical therapist.

Surgery has gone well! A bit of pain and nausea at the start but all under control now. They expect I may be back into my prosthetic a lot sooner than the 3 month mark! Will keep you all updated when I plan to be back at work.

Dry needling is a popular option for many of my clients to help keep their bodies pain free.

Dry needling has many benefits, including improving blood flow, balancing pH levels, increase oxygen and releasing trigger points (or sometimes referred to 'knots' in the muscle belly).

I incorporate the Dry needling techniques with other musculoskeletal approaches to soften the tissue and get you walking out feeling so much better.

Ash the whippet enjoying the cozy treatment table along with her owner.
This client came in last week with persistent pain deep in her bicep muscle (possibly due to an old injury in the area)
With manual therapy, dry needling, myofascial release and some PNF stretching of muscles down the arm and around her shoulder joint, she was walking away pain free and with greater range of motion through the shoulder and elbow joint.
Since then, the pain has not returned 👌👌
