Otago Youth Wellness Trust

Otago Youth Wellness Trust Our case workers employ an intense wrap-around service to improve educational and other outcomes, strengthen family/whanau relationships and improve wellbeing.

At Otago Youth Wellness Trust we provide support for rangatahi who have multiple needs impacting on their wellbeing, so they are able to live and participate fully in their community
Donate to support now: https://givealittle.co.nz/org/otagoyouthwellness The Otago Youth Wellness Trust is a not for profit community-based service working alongside rangatahi aged 11 to 18 with multiple and high needs to create positive change in their lives and their family/whanau. We work with over 250 of our community's valued rangatahi a year. In addition we provide Dunedin City's attendance service supporting 6 to 16 year olds to engage in school. Please join us on this page if you are passionate about supporting Dunedin's tamariki, rangatahi and whanau.

Over the course of the university semester, we’ve been collaborating with student consultants from Ignite Consultants at the University of Otago. A team of 7 students have been developing a report for us, which includes telling the story of OYWT in a way that is accessible and impactful for key stakeholders. We are immensely proud of their mahi and deeply grateful for their hard work, insight, and dedication.

Last Thursday, we attended their presentation evening, where all the projects were on display, including work with Dunedin Young Professionals, South Street Festival, Alzheimers Otago, 100+ People Who Care, and SquashOtago. It was inspiring to see students bridging the gap between the university and the wider Ōtepoti community. 💚

Last week, a group of rangatahi got creative at our annual holiday art workshop at DPAG! 🎨✨

Led by the amazing Libbi Caskey, kaiako at DPAG, the workshop was all about making art fun and accessible for everyone. Libbi’s clever approach turned each participant into an artist!

Our rangatahi and staff also loved exploring the current exhibitions, including Unutai e! Unutai e! by Kāi Tahu & Anne Noble, with insightful guidance from Libbi.

Big thanks to everyone who joined us. It was a great week full of inspiration and connection! 💛

💚 It’s Mental Health Awareness Week! 💚

This year’s theme - Top Up Together - reminds us to connect with others and bring the Five Ways to Wellbeing into our daily lives.

Today’s focus is on Give - give your time, your words, your presence; tukua te wā ki a koe, ō kupu, ko koe tonu.

Small acts of kindness can strengthen relationships and create a ripple effect. Let’s top up together!

💚 Waiho i te toipoto, kaua i te toiroa – Let us keep close together, not wide apart. 💚

Positive social interactions make us feel happy, connect and secure.

Connect is one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and can be as simple as sharing a smile with someone.

It is with great sadness and aroha that we share the passing of our founder and patron Dame Patricia Harrison. A mighty Totara with outstanding leadership who has had incredible impact in our Ōtepoti community and rakatahi through generations. Dame Pat touched so many with her wisdom, advocacy and belief in young people and in community and will be sorely missed, remembered with aroha. Her mahi and drive will continue to impact through the legacy of the Trust, the individuals, and community she has touched in her incredible life.

Dame Pat - Kua whetūrangitia koe – you have taken your place amongst the stars
