Coeliac disease requires avoidance of gluten-containing cereals. Most commonly gluten is contained in wheat, barley, rye and oats, but can also be contained in other products.

Our team are here to help with anyone with coeliac disease to understand how to read food labels, knowing how to identify gluten in foods, knowing what to substitute gluten with, how to meet nutritional requirements, and finding recipes to make the favourite foods again.

If you or someone you know has newly been diagnosed with coeliac, or needs some extra help anywhere on their journey, then get in touch

If you are pregnant, then the NZ recommendations is to keep caffeine intake to below 200mg per day.

Some common drinks/foods containing caffeine are:
👉 Coffee contains up to 150mg caffeine depending on whether it’s instant coffee or expresso
👉 Tea has around 75mg
👉 3 squares of dark chocolate have around 20mg and there is less in milk chocolate

If you are concerned about nutrition for pregnancy or fertility, then touch base with Jenny or Amy to discuss.

The Muesli bar aisle can be quite overwhelming and although fresh foods are always going to be the better choice, sometimes having some packaged options for the lunchbox can be great.

Looking for a muesli bar that is high in protein and fibre is going to keep you or your child fuller for longer. And choosing wholegrains, nuts and seeds can be a great nutrition booster.

If you are needing to avoid wheat or gluten for management of coeliac disease, IBS, wheat allergy or other reasons, then looking into the flours you use in the kitchen can be useful to ensure you are getting enough fibre and nutrients in your diet.

Mixing up a variety of grain flours in your cooking/baking can help achieve better nutritional quality for your diet.

If you need some more help following a wheat/gluten free diet, then get in contact with Jenny to book an appointment.
