From this Friday, everyone aged 18 or older can receive a Pfizer booster 3 months after getting their second vaccine, or third vaccine for immune compromised people. The gap has been reduced from 4 months to 3 months to shore up our defences against Omicron. Reducing the interval now means an additional 1 million New Zealanders are eligible to receive their booster before the end of summer.

Current evidence shows protection against infection after the primary vaccination course decreases over time. Getting a β€˜top up’ vaccine after your two doses helps boost your immunity against COVID-19. Boosters also lower your chances of getting very sick from COVID-19 and ending up in hospital.

From Friday, you will be able to book your booster at bookmyvaccine.nz or walk-in to a vaccination centre near you.

My Vaccine Pass is now available as an official record of Covid-19 vaccination status.

It provides proof that a person is fully vaccinated or has a medical exemption from vaccination. The pass will give access to places within New Zealand that require proof under the new COVID Protection Framework: https://covid19.govt.nz/alert-levels-and-updates/covid-19-protection/.

Pharmacies and other essential services do not require proof of vaccination.

Find more information about the pass, including a full list of exempt services, here: https://covid19.govt.nz/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-vaccination-certificates/my-vaccine-pass/
