🧠This first-of-its-kind study will investigate the cognitive profiles of those living with endo with the ultimate goal of the study to empower and enhance their quality of life. Your contribution will involve some cognitive tests and wearing an EEG cap (a bit like a swimming cap), and tests will be carried out in the William James Building at the University of Otago in Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand. 💡 Resistant starch: A hidden gem for PCOS nutrition?

🩸This type of dietary fibre has many health benefits from improving blood glucose control, reducing inflammation, and keeping you fuller for longer, which are all important steps for the management of Polycystic o***y syndrome.

🔬The unique chemical structure of resistance starch allows it to pass through the small intestine undigested and is fermented by gut microbes in the large intestine instead.

Simple ways to boost the resistance starch content of your meals:
⭐️Use up those leftover cooked potatoes in a Spanish omelette or cold potato salad
⭐️Make some extra rice for dinner and reheat it for lunch the next day or make fried rice from refrigerated rice.
⭐️Add cooked kumura to soups, salads, and curries or eat as a snack with hummus or peanut butter.
⭐️Try including some lentils, beans, or chickpeas in your lunch or dinner meals.
⭐️Mix in some cooked buckwheat to your lunch to keep you going all afternoon.

Propelling the women’s health strategy forward! 🔥

On Saturday, Elizabeth Zizik co-founder was invited to be the keynote speaker from at the in Auckland, diving into the role that nutritionists can play in women’s and menstrual healthcare over the next 10 years.

✨ Key Takeaways:

1. Collaboration Over Competition: When we work together, we can make a huge difference in women’s health and in equity outcomes. We need effective, organised strategies that brings wisdom and knowledge from many perspectives weaved together.

2. Focus on Relationship Building: Building strong relationships with mana whenua, tangata whenua, health professional colleagues, lived experience communities, researchers, and public servants is essential. It’s about remembering why we are in the room, establishing common ground and focusing on effective solutions together.

3. Be Audacious and Dream Big: Let’s think big, challenge our thinking and build a curiosity within us all of what’s possible and reimagine women’s healthcare. Dare to take up space, speak in rooms you feel you don’t belong in yet and pass the mic to amplify others voices that must be heard 🎤

4. Let’s break systems and rebuild them: By dismantling outdated systems and rebuilding them, we can create a future where every person and their whānau gets the healthcare they deserve. That’s what the Pae Ora health reforms are all about!

Let’s keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in health service delivery and design.

Thanks to everyone who joined and shared their insights!

Let’s keep the kōrero going 👌

🩸Our menstrual cycle should be considered as one of the body’s vital signs, so it is important to pay attention to anything out of the ordinary when it comes to your period. If you are currently not getting your period, or have irregular periods (outside of a ‘normal’ 21-35 day cycle), there may be something else going on.

🧪Polycystic O***y Syndrome and Functional Hypothalamic Amenorrhea are two of the most common causes of absent or irregular periods, but they also each have their unique range of symptoms and require different treatment approaches. From nutrition, herbal medicine, exercise, stress management, and medicines there are many ways to get on top of symptoms and improve overall wellbeing.

Opening up about mental health and startups isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary if we want to tackle the taboo nature of it all.

Elle had the privilege to share her journey as a neurodivergent entrepreneur and a women in business at recently alongside a fantastic panel of local speakers in Ōtepoti.

Mental health and leadership are crucial topics that often go undiscussed, and we’re grateful for the chance to cultivate real talk on these subjects. It’s essential to embrace our nature fully and pave the way for innovation, inclusivity and understanding.

A huge shoutout to the organisers, musicians, event planners, caterers, creatives and everyone else behind the scenes whose dedication and hard work made this event possible. We know firsthand the countless hours and meticulous planning that go on behind the scenes to bring such an event to life.

Their commitment to empowering women in business is truly commendable, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
