A practical skin health guideline clinicians often use is the two week rule:
If you have a spot, scab, sore, or irritated patch that doesn’t improve within two weeks (or keeps returning), it’s worth getting checked, especially if it:
Bleeds or crusts repeatedly
Is painful or persistently itchy
Looks different from your other spots
Is new and changing
Most things turn out to be harmless but early assessment is how we catch the important exceptions.
