Bridget Heer is the owner and principal dentist at Dentistry on Musselburgh. She grew up in Cromwell and also attended her last three years at high school at Queens. Bridget now lives in the lovely community of St Clair with her husband, Conrad, and their children, Meg (20 years) and Sam (17 years). Bridget graduated in 1997 from the Otago School of Dentistry with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Credit. Wanting to remain in Dunedin, she first worked as a Dental House Surgeon with the Dental School and Dunedin Public Hospital. Since then she has worked in private practice, covering most areas of dentistry, in both Dunedin and also during a four year excursion to Waiheke Island. Bridget also worked in the Hospital Dentistry Department at the School of Dentistry, where she particularly enjoyed working with medically compromised patients. Having spent all her dental working life working for someone else and with the children growing Bridget and Conrad purchased Dentistry on Musselburgh in May 2017. Dentistry on Musselburgh has a great reputation as a place for gentle, caring dentistry for the whole family. The philosophy of the practice involves a holistic approach when treating the whole family and taking care of your teeth and gums to improve your overall health. The practice is well equipped with the latest technology including minimal radiation digital x-rays and each surgery is fully computerised. Emergencies and walk-ins are welcome and the staff do their very best to accommodate patients in need. The team at Dentistry on Musselburgh includes experienced dentists Joyce Tang and Jonathan (Jono) Martin as well as Bridget and Nicky Fisher (Oral Health Therapist). Originally from Malaysia, Joyce came to Dunedin when she was nine years of age and later attended Bayfield High School. She graduated from the University of Otago in 2015 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Music Degree and spent the next few years as a private dentist in Auckland & Nelson, covering most areas of general dentistry. She then returned to Dunedin with her family - husband ( a GP at Mornington) and two young girls - and joined the team at Musselburgh. Joyce loves the variety and level of care that comes with being a general dentist, as well as helping anxious patients feel calm. Outside of dentistry, she loves organising her home, spending time with her kids, or playing the piano. Jono enjoys every aspect of general dentistry, with a particular interest in oral surgery from his time working as a house surgeon and registra at Taranaki Hospital. He has a relaxed manner and provides a high level of dental care that suits each individual patient, whatever their budget and busy lives require. Jono is a father of 3 young children and enjoys playing football. He is very caring, honest and informative. He listens to you and always puts you and your families health first at all times. He looks forward to getting to know you and creating a relaxing environment for you. Nicky Fisher is an Oral Health Therapist and holds a dual degree in Dental Hygiene, Dental Therapy and Health Promotion from the University of Otago. Nicky rounds out the team at Dentistry on Musselburgh by catering for both our teenagers and our hygiene patients. Nicky has a special interest in the prevention of oral health diseases and works in the dental team with patients in all age groups. Part of her role includes providing quality dental care as a Dental Therapist, to various sections of the community, particularly children and adolescents. Nicky’s passion extends beyond just your teeth and gums, to include your general health and overall well being too. Nicky always provides a positive, non-judgmental environment for her patients. She offers individual care and works to empower her patients to have improved oral health.
