Visique Peter Dick Optometrists

Visique Peter Dick Optometrists For over 100 years Peter Dick has been synonymous with Otago and Optometry. Five generations of eye care. In 2014 Peter Leslie retired after 52 years of service.

There aren't many Optometrists with the experience or record of dedication that rival Dunedin's own Visique Peter Dick Optometrists. Originally founded in 1889 as Peter Dick Jewellers by Peter Dick. His son Peter George Dick started the Optometry business next door in 1915. For more than 106 years the name Peter Dick has been synonymous with both Otago and Optometry. There have been five generations of Optometrists, and there have been some patients who have seen four. In 2001 the family business became part of the Visique group of independent optometrists. Visique is the the largest New Zealand owned optometry group in the country, and comprises more than 30 independently owned and operated practices throughout the country. This association allows Visique Peter Dick Optometrists to have the finest selection of products and services available anywhere in the country whilst still maintaining the rich family history. Technology has come a long way since the first of the Peter Dicks started to practice Optometry, and at Visique Peter Dick Optometrists, you will find the latest technology intertwined with the same old fashioned dedication to customer service that has become synonymous with this family of optometrists. They also have some of the most dedicated and experienced staff in the industry who can assist in frame selection, lens types, or discuss the benefits of polarized sunglasses and contact lenses. The staff are experts in contact lenses, and the latest contact lenses are amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. Peter Leslie and Peter Stewart have shown leadership in their field and being members of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists and the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of New Zealand. These professional associations assist optometrists in ensuring the highest standards of care are provided. In 2013 Peter Stewart received a Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics from the Queensland University of Technology. This year long post graduate course enables Peter to prescribe medications for eye conditions including red eyes. In 2019 Katrina French (5th Generation and the first female Optometrist) started as a full time Optometrist working with Peter Stewart in the Dunedin and Mosgiel practices. In April 2021 Katrina became a business partner with Peter Stewart. Katrina is Peter Stewart’s niece. Peter now also regularly visits Cromwell and Ranfurly. Whether it be the latest technology in lenses, the most stylish frames, or the Peter Dick name, there are a multitude of reasons to come and see the team.
