Hi! I’m Nick — One of the new faces here and the current intern pharmacist at Roslyn Pharmacy. 👋

As part of my training, I’m running a health promotion to help raise awareness about shingles and how the Shingrix vaccine can protect you from it.

I was inspired to choose this topic after hearing so many stories from friends, patients, and whānau who’ve been badly affected by shingles — often at times not realising how serious it can be before they got shingles, or that there’s a vaccine available (Shingrix) that’s over 90% effective at preventing it!

Today we celebrated a special milestone as we thank Hayley for all her amazing work during 10 years at Roslyn Pharmacy! It’s been so special watching you not only grow but thrive, and now we’re wishing you all the best as you take a wee maternity break - congratulations to Hay, Scout and Myra. We’ll miss you, Hay!

10 pharmacists got it wrong in this RNZ quiz… but one pharmacist you might know nailed it 😎.

Ten pharmacists RNZ called said no, chemists can not give sick notes to customers. But in a statement, the Ministry of Health said actually yes, they can.

Thank you for sticking with us, for believing in what we’re about, and for all the moments shared along the way.

To the originals who’ve been part of the journey from the start, to our wee faves that are no longer with us – we’re so grateful. To the young parents whose kids grew up and played sport and did productions with our kids and now are empty nesters - we did it!

To the kids who used to come in for pimple creams and are now off doing things we could only dream of – how amazing. To the wee babies we once dispensed Pamol – now graduating and leaving town – how extraordinary (our favorite moments these days are hearing what you guys are up to - that’s how old we are!!)

Our dispensary team is working incredibly hard to deliver safe, accurate, and timely dispensing. We pride ourselves on being the best in town and have spent a lot of time refining our systems to ensure you get a text message every time your scripts are ready for collection.

Our aim is to reduce the number of calls we get asking whether a script is ready—it’s not that we don’t want to hear from you, but we’re fielding hundreds of calls every day!

If it’s not urgent, please wait for the text before popping in. That way, our team can stay focused on preparing your medicines quickly and safely.

We’re sending off our amazing pharmacist Angie as she heads off on maternity leave! It’s her last day in the dispensary for a little while, and we’re already missing her - join us in wishing her all the best for the adventures ahead — we can’t wait to meet the newest addition to the fam !

We’ve had a fantastic response to our flu vaccinations this year, and now we’re seeing a strong upswing in COVID booster demand. To keep things easy and accessible, we’re offering walk-in vaccinations Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm. No appointment is needed—just come in and we’ll look after it. In most cases, this service is free.

A couple of other vaccination reminders:
Shingles: The newer shingles vaccine is highly effective and can prevent a very painful illness. It’s been popular this season.
Measles: Current data suggests New Zealand is particularly vulnerable to a measles outbreak. This is especially important for our tamariki, but also for adults born after the mid‑1960s. Those born earlier generally don’t need a booster. This group can be hard to get through the door, so if that’s you—please come in and let us check if you’re due. If you’re unsure, just ask.

It’s been a busy start to the winter season here at . We’ve powered through our flu vaccination drive, juggled multiple medicine supply issues, and seen the arrival of some especially nasty bugs (welcome back, COVID—it’s been a while…). It’s a hectic time, so we thought we’d share a few key things that help make our winter a success at Roslyn Pharmacy.
