Reiki Drum New Zealand

Drum therapy is an ancient approach that uses rhythm to promote healing and self-expression. Therapeutic rhythm techniques have been used for thousands of years by many different cultures to create and maintain physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Despite being practiced by so many diverse cultures, the technique is similar the world over. The idea of combining Reiki with Shamanic Drumming originated with Michael Arthur Baird, a Reiki Master/Teacher from the USA who runs the Infinite Light Healing Studies Center in Sedona, Arizona with his wife, Laurelle Shanti Gaia. He is a Licensed Master Teacher with International Center for Reiki Training, and a member of the Sound Healer’s Association. He is also a Middle Eastern drummer. During the Labour Day Weekend in 1999 at the International Reiki Retreat held in Waterliet, MI,USA, he joined two other drummers in providing healing drumming sessions for the retreat participants. He initially practiced healing drumming without Reiki and found he was absorbing a lot of the energies of the people over whom he was drumming, thereby feeling quite ill from it. On the second night of the retreat Michael altered the way he carried out the healing drumming. He first strengthened his light with Reiki. He then prepared his drum by charging it as an instrument of Reiki energy. Then as he drummed over each person he would visualize a Reiki symbol moving from his hands and through the drum to them. Reiki Drumming was born. Sarah Gregg a Reiki Master/Teacher from the UK read of Michael’s work with Reiki Drumming, and felt guided and inspired to study with him. She has introduced training workshops to the UKin 2007 following her studies Michael in Arizona. She conducts regular Reiki Drum Technique workshops around the UK, and envisages that this powerful healing technique will spread throughout the British Isles, and hopefully Europe over the next few years. Tracey Walkington a Reiki Master/Teacher from the UK heard of Reiki Drum through my Reiki Master/Teacher/Friend Susan Davis and I am now a Reiki Drum Technique Practitioner And am introducing this healing modality to New Zealand.
