So lovely to have Maureen Howard at Roots of Resilience at Orokonui Ecosanctuary as part of the Wild Dunedin Festival 🌿

Maureen is a well-known voice in Dunedin’s conservation community and the host of Rewilding in Action, and I’m deeply grateful she joined us for the workshop. Hearing her warm feedback and seeing how much she enjoyed the day was genuinely encouraging.

Roots of Resilience was created as a space to explore practical, evidence-informed tools for staying grounded in the face of climate uncertainty — and to practise those skills where they belong: out in nature, surrounded by birdsong and forest air.

Thank you Maureen for your presence, your support and for all the work you do for the natural world đź’š

Today at Orokonui Ecosanctuary, we gathered for Roots of Resilience as part of the Wild Dunedin Festival 🌿

A morning of learning, reflection and gentle courage — exploring how to stay grounded in the face of climate uncertainty, and how to respond to difficult emotions with steadiness rather than struggle.

We began indoors with evidence-informed tools for nervous system grounding and emotional resilience, then stepped outside into the sanctuary to practise them in the most fitting classroom of all: nature.

Sitting together in a circle of cabbage trees, surrounded by birdsong, we were reminded that resilience isn’t about feeling nothing… it’s about staying connected to what matters, even when the world feels heavy.

Thank you to everyone who came with open hearts, and thank you to Orokonui Ecosanctuary for holding this space so beautifully.

May we keep our roots deep, our hearts open and our next steps steady đź’š

See you tomorrow at Orokonui Ecosanctuary 🌿

We’ll be gathering in this circle of cabbage trees for Roots of Resilience — a gentle morning of practical tools, grounding and nature connection for anyone carrying the weight of climate change.

If you’ve been feeling it lately, you’re not alone.
Let’s meet it together — with steadiness, care and birdsong.

🌿 Taste of the Earth — what a special day for the Wild Dunedin Festival

So grateful to everyone who came along to explore the connection between soil health, nutrient density, gut health and mental wellbeing — and to do it in such a fun, hands-on way.

From testing salad greens for Brix scores, to peering into the microscopic world of living soil, to sharing a seasonal lunch straight from the garden… it was a reminder that health isn’t just something we chase — it’s something we grow.

A huge thank you to Neil Robinson from Garden to Market for his generosity, wisdom and the incredible produce that made the day so special 🌱🥬

And thank you to everyone who brought curiosity, laughter and your beautiful homegrown greens — you made the workshop what it was.

Here’s to building wellbeing from the ground up 💚

A huge thank you to Amanda Currie from Tinwald Farm for being such an incredible special guest at Nourishing the Mind. Your knowledge of soil biology, regenerative farming and living ecosystems — and the way you share it with such generosity — added so much depth to the day. 🌿 Nourishing the Mind — what a day.

So grateful for everyone who joined us at Sherwood Queenstown for a truly inspiring workshop exploring the deep connections between soil health, food quality, the microbiome and mental wellbeing.

It was special to witness people from such diverse backgrounds — farmers, growers, health professionals and community members — coming together with curiosity, openness and shared purpose.

Standing together in the organic garden with the Remarkables behind us, looking at living soil under the microscope, testing for nutrient density… it felt like we weren’t just learning information — we were reconnecting with something deeper.

Thank you for showing up with open minds and open hearts. It reminded me that healing and resilience don’t happen in isolation — they happen in community and in relationship with the living world around us.

May we heal ourselves and our land and work together in unity towards a more resilient future🌱
