I'm getting very excited about the first week of September! Thank you to all the helpers and presenters that are bringing Dying Matters Week to Takaka! Please join us for some of these sessions and events. Death is a tough topic for many. Let's normalise talking about it. I will be at the Takaka library and answering questions on Monday. Matuku Funerals is having an open day on Saturday, and we are giving visitors a native tree to plant. I am planning my "outfit" for the Grand Finale event, "The Magnificent Game of Living and Dying" on Sunday afternoon at the Wholemeal cafe. Do not be afraid to join us, we are all (already) playing the game!
Not included on this poster are two other special events, Nicola Basham and Team of Go Willow will be weaving a willow casket on the Village Green on Tuesday and Friday, and bringing the casket to the Market to the Village Market Takaka to complete on Saturday! Also there is a very special installation of a wind phone (a telephone to contact those on the other side) at the Memorial Garden by the playground. Sarah Thomas and Aralyn Dorian have been working to create this piece. Thank you to all the sponsors of this important week, Unlimited Copies, Matuku Funerals, Health Post, Bacca Bakery, the Wholemeal Cafe, Fresh FM and Merv of Solly's, the Village Theatre, Aralyn Dorian, Sacha Hoogerwerf, Amelia Toohey, Golden Bay Community Health, and more. It takes a village to talk about death well...let's do it!
