"I'm very emotional, and my horse feels that. How can I be less emotional? "

"I'm too sensitive and soft to be able to train my horse well. How can I be more firm? "

"Whenever I'm stressed I start to cry. And this also happens when I'm with my horse. I don't want my horse to think I'm weak."

"I love to be sweet and kind to my horse, but horses need someone who is firm and strict "

It happens that students tell me those things, they think that they are "too weak", "too soft", "too sweet" or "too emotional" to train their horse well.

Often this idea comes from the belief that horses need a strong leader and someone who can be "boss", otherwise they are difficult to handle and difficult to train.

Well, let me tell you, to be able to lead and guide your horse well, you don't need to be "firm" or "hard". It's also not necessary to hide your emotions. On the contrary.

Horses love sensitive and sweet people.

So cherish your sensitivity, cherish your natural softness, cherish your emotions and feelings and don't hide your inner self from your horse.

First of all: you can't hide yourself anyway. Your horse will sense how you really are and feel.

Secondly: your sensitivity, softness & sweetness is your power!

Think about wat Lao Tszu said about water. He said: "Water is fluid, softs and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and can not yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong."

So allow your sensitivity, your softness and your sweetness. Be grateful for it! It's your power!
