Hi team, it's been a while since I last connected with you here so I wanted to share an update about a new challenge I've set myself.

Winter is coming in New Zealand which means shorter days and colder weather ❄️

A change of seasons can often lead to you being more or less active and the need to adjust your goals to keep them achievable going forward and keep your motivation strong.

This winter I’ve decided to join a local gym and their 20 Week Challenge which started 3 May and goes to 17 Sept 👊🏻

The challenge is designed to provide motivation to stay fit and active over the winter months and I’m really looking forward to achieving some new personal goals!

The best thing is it’s not a usual gym challenge about who can lose the most weight. There are categories to focus on, team adventures and people voted prizes to win at the end 🎉

The categories are shape, adventure, strength, fitness/cardio, mobility, rehab and lifestyle. We have to pick 2 to focus on throughout the challenge and here are mine:

SHAPE: I will improve the shape and tone of my body by going to the gym at least 4 days per week so I look amazing in my purple dress 💪🏼

ADVENTURE: I will beat my time to climb the steep side of Mt Iron by at least 5 minutes. Here I am at the top looking down over Wanaka ⛰

My overall aim for the challenge is to get fitter and I’m looking forward to doing this by attending the gym's variety of Les Mills classes and working with a personal trainer to make this happen!

So, are you up for setting yourself some new goals to keep you motivated coming into a new season too? 🤔

Join me and pick 2 categories to set smart goals in to keep you focused on your healthy lifestyle journey.

Now I want to hear from you! Are you going to join me and set yourself 2 new goals from the above categories to focus on over the next 20 weeks? Send me a message or comment below and share them with us to hold yourself accountable!

Today I want to share something a little different with you.

My good friend and accountability partner Stacy, has recently launched her first podcast called Feel Great In 5 🎉

So many of us lead busy lives and don’t have a lot of time for self care, let alone time to learn about new, fun ways to improve our health 😂

With this in mind, Stacy created a 5 minute podcast so it’s perfect for busy women who are looking for a bite sized show while they're on the go!

Everybody can find 5 minutes in their day, whether it be while driving to the supermarket, doing the dishes or even getting changed to head to the gym.

Stacy has done the hard yards for you learning and researching about fun ideas, tips and habits you can use to improve your health, wellness and self care in just a few minutes a day ⏰

Check out her first episode on Batch Cooking where she shares tips that will help you to feel more organised with your meal planning while saving you time and money. Who doesn’t want that?!

You know how important meal planning is for long term sustainable weight loss and batch cooking is a great tool to make doing this just a little easier 👩🏼‍🍳

If you’ve never listened to a podcast, why not make this one your first!

You can also learn about how to improve your mood, be kind to yourself, boost your immunity or enhance your health by connecting with nature 😊

Have you put your social life on hold until you’ve lost weight? ✋🏼

Part of learning to love the weight loss journey is about finding ways to live your life how you want to live it long term, whatever the situation.

You shouldn’t have to worry about attending social events or even avoid them altogether.

You also don’t have to use social events as an excuse to go wild and eat all the things, then feel miserable and beat yourself up about it for the following week. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sound familiar?

I’ve certainly done all of these things in the past and I know how painful they are!

But I do them less and less these days and I’m changing my behaviour. 🎉

You can change your behaviour too and learn how to overcome weight loss obstacles you face everyday, when attending a special occasion event, or are away on holiday or a business trip. ✈️

How?

By being prepared and using visualisation. 😮

It’s super simple and can even be fun!

Check out my latest YouTube video to learn how to overcome weight loss obstacles and hear the story of how I put this tool into practice on a weekend business trip👇🏼 🎬

Do you think losing weight could be fun?

I bet you’re thinking, that's unlikely...

What if I told you the reason weight loss currently isn’t fun is because of the thoughts you’re having about losing weight. 🤔

Thoughts like…

I can’t eat that.

I hate working out.

I should be doing more.

No one is going to have any fun in their life with thoughts like that are they! 🤷🏻‍♀️

But what if you could change your thoughts to help make losing weight feel fun?

Why can’t weight loss be fun?

Well, I have exciting news! 🎉

You can change your thoughts. 😮

You can choose what you think and you can believe weight loss is fun!

I’m on an adventure to make weight loss fun for my clients, my community and myself.

How?

By using a weight loss tool called The Urge Jar.

Check out my latest YouTube video to find out what The Urge Jar is and how to use it to start making weight loss fun for you too!👇🏼 🎬

What does the future you look like?

Have you ever taken the time to think about what the future you will be like?

The future you who has achieved her weight loss goals and reached her ideal body weight 🎉

Maybe you’ve spent time thinking about how you’re going to look and feel?

But have you ever thought about how you’ll act and what habits you’ll have?

If you don’t have a clear picture of how the future you lives and behaves, you’re likely going to end up creating a life that looks pretty much the same as the one you have now 😂

That’s because your brain is a problem solving machine but it only knows what you already know 🤔

When you spend time thinking about yourself in the future at your goal weight, your brain scans your memory for any past experiences you’ve had of this scenario to determine the path to take to get there again and the probability of achieving the goal.

If you’re like me and you’ve been overweight for as long as you can remember, it’s not going to find any evidence.

All it’s going to find is a whole lot of past experiences where you’ve failed at losing weight and it’s going to tell you to not even bother trying again.

Been there, done that and felt miserable 😭

It’s doing its job of protecting you from wasting your time and feeling like a failure yet again.

But don’t despair ladies 😮

It is still possible to achieve your weight loss goals but you do have to be willing to do the work.

You have to be willing to feel uncomfortable and override your brain's default mode 👊🏻

You have to choose to not operate only on the current information your brain offers you but to push past this into the unknown of creating something new.

Sounds exciting right!

I want you to know right now that YOU ARE ENOUGH because you exist 👊🏻

You have 100 percent value because you exist 💯

It’s that simple.

You are just as valuable as everyone else on this earth 🌏

So, why don’t you believe what I’m saying?

Years and years of not valuing yourself has convinced you that your story of not being good enough is true 😮

I’m here to help you rewrite your story so that you know that YOU ARE ENOUGH!

Why is this important?

When you value yourself, you’re more likely to make better decisions in regards to your health and weight loss goals 🎉

Too many women believe their value is dependent on their weight.

For example, you eat 3 healthy meals, your value goes up. You skip your daily walk, your value goes down. The scale goes up, your value goes down again 😢

You make a decision in the moment whether you’re less or more worthy depending on an action that you took 🤦🏻‍♀️

You use your weight as a way to measure your value and if you’re not perfect, you see yourself as lazy, that you lack willpower and discipline so therefore you're just not good enough 💔

The question is, why do you believe what you weigh makes you less valuable than the next person. Where or who did you learn that belief from? 🤔

I’m currently working on learning to believe that my value isn’t related to how much I weigh or the number on the scale.

Check out my latest YouTube video to find how you can learn to value yourself and for my fun tip on how to increase your self love 👇🏼 🎬

When it comes to weight loss, the language that you use matters.

Your words matter 👊🏻

Why, because different words create different feelings inside of you.

Your words make up the sentences in your brain right 🤔

These sentences are your thoughts. Your thoughts create your feelings. Your feelings create your actions and your actions create your results.

That's why the words that you use matter!

There are 3 words that I encourage my clients to swap out for better options 🎉

The first word is should.

I should go for a walk.

The word should generates feelings of guilt, like you're not doing enough and it can lead you down the path of beating yourself up 😭

Try swapping the word should for the word could.

I could go for a walk.

The feeling you get from this sentence is so different 😮

The word could shifts your energy immediately helping you to feel lighter and think that going for a walk is achievable.

So next time you think, I should go for a walk. Swap it out for I could go for a walk and see the difference in how it makes you feel.

Check out my latest YouTube video to find out the other 2 words and how to start changing your language and choosing more empowering words 👇🏼 🎬

Have you ever thought about why you weigh what you weigh?

Maybe you're afraid of the answer?

You think you’ll judge yourself. Beat yourself up a little more. Feel stuck 😳

But what if there are a lot of good reasons you weigh what you weigh and not more?

Great things you're doing to be healthy and slowly losing weight or maintaining your weight loss like I am 🥗 🚴🏼‍♀️ 🏋🏼‍♀️

That’s what I discovered when I did the work to find why I weigh what I weigh 🎉

Most of my daily habits are helping me. There’s just a few things that I’ve got too relaxed about, that I need to reassess and adjust to continue making progress in my weight loss journey.

Check out my latest YouTube video to find out how to uncover why you weigh what you weigh and then make changes to help you achieve your own weight loss goals 👇🏼 🎬

Make sure to have your favourite journal handy or something to write on and take the time to do the work and answer the questions.

You can’t learn your way to weight loss. The changes happen when we apply what we learn 👊🏻

Join me in the Healthy Lifestyle Journey today!

Hey! I’m Emily,

I’ve been overweight for as long as I can remember. I constantly struggled to stick to mainstream diets and grew up always trying to lose weight with very little success.

At 32 years old, I was unhappy and felt like I was still waiting for my life to begin. I made the bold decision to take unpaid leave from my dream job in television. After packing up my life, I moved to Wanaka, New Zealand to focus on my health and losing weight.

Here, my life changed forever as I started what I like to call my Healthy Lifestyle Journey.
