Earl ‘Dennis’ Torrey

Sunrise 18.03.1950 - Sunset 29.03.2026

Beloved husband to Elaine, brother to Phyll, Dawn, Teddy & Carol, father to Jason, Teresa, Vanessa, Nicole, Kim & Huia, grandfather to Mahinarangi, Parata, Tikara, Tristiana, Taine, Danica, Taya, Kawariki, Adelaide, Kayleigh, Hunter, Ruby, Killian and great grandfather to Mohi-Tūranga-Tohu, Wihā Te Piki-Kōtuku, Mikaere, Manu, Te Rauiri-Pūwhero, Seini, Kaea, Zebadiah, Waiaria, Puawānanga & Leilani.
Slipped away peacefully surrounded by his whānau at Foxton beach. A truly remarkable soul, whose presence brought laughter, companionship, and countless cherished memories to all who knew him. A skilled duck shooter with a steady hand and a patient eye, he found peace and purpose in the quiet stillness of the outdoors. Whether standing in the early morning mist or waiting along the water’s edge, he carried a deep appreciation for nature and the simple joys it offered. He was equally at home with a fishing rod in hand, always ready to share a story about “the one that got away” or proudly recount the day’s catch. Time spent fishing was never just about the fish—it was about connection, reflection, and good company. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, Denny-Pie had a gift for humor that brightened every room. His jokes, pranks, and laughter were unforgettable, often catching friends and family by surprise and leaving them in stitches. Life around him was never dull; it was filled with mischief, warmth, and genuine joy.
Above all, he was deeply loved. A loyal friend, a devoted family member, and someone who made everyone feel welcome, his kindness and character left a lasting impression on many lives.

This morning we had a vist from the team at Hibiscus Funeral Services.

Great that all us small privately owned funeral homes can work together to give our loved ones the send-off they deserve.

Have a safe trip back home.
