Wakatipu Baby Memorial

Wakatipu Baby Memorial Creating a special place of remembrance within the Queenstown area, to acknowledge all our angel babies that have gone to soon. Thank you Ali and Natasha

Our aim is to provide a designated baby memorial that has been long overdue within the Queenstown area. Providing families a place to be able to grieve, reflect on and acknowledge their beloved babies whom have died far too soon. We hope to make this a special place of rest to honour them, to break down the walls of displacement and will hopefully provide some relief to the decisions parents have

to make during a very unexpected & stressful time. It’s about giving families some choices and some control during these devastating times. The memorial will be open to everyone, there are no exclusions; Mums, Dads, Grandparents, siblings & international visitors, we all have the right to honour a baby's loss, from the early loss within the first few weeks of pregnancy, upwards. The loss of a much loved baby can be devastatingly heart breaking at any time. Myself and my dear friend Natasha both know first-hand what the impact of losing a baby is like and became friends though my loss 5years ago. We both now volunteer for charity run organisation Sands which support families in the local area during their darkest days and hopefully provide some light. So....we have set this page up as a result of the over whelming positive response we had to our petition. Many people have asked how do they keep informed of things are progressing.....so here we are! We have no current time frame of the finish project, were very much in the early concept stages, but firstly what we needed was the communities support, with this information we will give this to council which will confirm to them that this is very much needed here. All going well the memorial will be included in a designated 'Children's' area within the new Lower Shotover Cemetery.

We may grieve differently, and many of us keep our sorrow to ourselves, but every once in a while we can listen, hear our words and feelings reflected back from someone who knows. Even if it's a stranger....they can deeply know ours and each other's pain, yet we can find healing amongst it all. We can lean on and support each other. πŸ₯°

Sands and CLFS PICs team are honoured to be holding a Support and Connection evening for parents to express and process the grief of pregnancy, baby, and infant loss, through creative expressions. 🌈🌺🍁

Together we will explore journalling, creativity, and discussion to aid in the processing of grief and other feelings.

Participation and sharing is not essential and at your own pace, this evening can be just about getting out of the house for connection and creativity. We understand that healing is a journey that looks different for everyone and that building connection over a cup of tea πŸ«– is one small step we can support you with. πŸ’•

If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in, please reach out to discuss or RSVP to
