Christmas is a little different for each of us. It can be a time of joy and celebration – but it can also be a season that feels more heavy, quiet or complicated. However this Christmas finds you, we send warmth your way. May you experience moments of peace and comfort. Wishing you a very happy Christmas.

We were lucky enough to have the wonderful line dancing ladies come to entertain us yesterday morning at Leighton House. They were dressed up in their Christmas themed outfits including Santa hats and reindeer headbands.

Thank you ladies for your amazing dancing skills and for
entertaining our residents.

We recently marked National Awareness Week for Diversional and Recreational Therapy. This year’s theme was He Kākano, He Tipu – From Seed to Growth.

"Growth happens through care, nurture, and connection. Just as a seed needs soil, water, and sunlight, people flourish when they are supported with creativity, empathy, and companionship.” (Society of Diversional and Recreational Therapists)

Our activities coordinators plan activities to support our residents’ physical, social and emotional needs. Our activities team’s vital work helps our residents to feel good. It enhances their quality of life by building connection, bringing a sense of belonging and purpose, and helping to keep minds and bodies active.

Pictured is our Activities Coordinator, Dianne and our Diversional Therapist, Analyn.

We had a lovely van outing recently. We went to Gray's Bush Scenic Reserve for morning tea. We did not venture outside due to rather average weather, but while we were there we saw some sheep and a rooster. The residents decided the rooster was a very handsome chap and they named him Charlie! We thoroughly enjoyed the animals; there was a lot of laughter.

Next we went to Bushmere Estate and stopped briefly. The estate was already closed, but while we were there, we had a chat and shared facts about it. What a fun excursion it was!
