Yoga has the power to transform our lives on all levels. Originated from India thousands of years ago and incorporated into the modern western lifestyle there is so much to gain from this amazing practice. On a physical level regular Yoga practise increases flexibility, strength and body awareness, decreases aches and pains. Yoga helps you to relax and achieve better sleep with many of my clients reporting that they have the best night sleep on the day they’ve practised Yoga. It cleanses your body and mind through gentle detoxification, opening up all pathways for better energy flow. Practising Yoga will significantly reduce your stress levels. Yoga is achievable and beneficial at any age or fitness levels, whether you’re big or small, flexible or inflexible, male or female, old or young, overweight or skinny, healthy or unwell, new to Yoga or an old timer! My Yoga background:

Since my early twenties I had a strong interest in Yoga and visited many different Yoga classes, wherever I was living I gave Yoga a go. That went on for almost twenty years, with sometimes more and sometimes less Yoga in my life. Approaching my forties I had the strong urge to train as a Yoga teacher to learn more about the ancient science of Yoga for myself. From the very first moment I loved the training, it felt like a home coming and finally following my heart’s calling! I trained with Amanda Reid, director of Samadhi Family Yoga and am trained in Yoga for pregnancy, infants through to adolescents and Yoga for adults and athletes. In 2013 I studied applied anatomy and physiology with Simon Borg-Oliver from Yoga Synergy in Sydney, which has increased my knowledge of Yoga postures, movements, bodywork, breathing and diet immensely. I’m going to regular Yoga classes with other great Yoga teachers and continue to learn, with various workshops, Yoga conferences, online studies, etc. to make sure that I’m the best teacher I can be. My Yoga style/style of Yoga:

It is very important to me that you feel better after the Yoga session than before! Therefore I encourage everyone to work at her/his level and to always make sure that your body and mind feels okay with what’s happening. My style is based on Satyananda Yoga and Vinyasa flow Yoga, incorporating breath work (pranayama) and the connection between body, mind and breath. After a gentle warm up sequence we dive deeper into poses with slow to faster flowing Vinyasa Yoga and finish the physical part off with some deeper stretching poses. Each session then finishes with a guided relaxation of at least 10 minutes. My favourite is a short Yoga Nidra, which means psychic sleep, for very deep and thorough relaxation. NUTRITION

If you're in need of decent, honest and up to date nutritional advice I offer private nutritional consultations that are professional and affordable. I'll visit you in the comfort of your own home at a time that suits you. My approach is based on common sense, life experience and scientific research. It is an approach that is an achievable way of living for today’s busy individuals and families. I have a high degree of empathy and will work with you in a compassionate and non judgemental way. I endeavour to work with each person on a very individual basis. As much as possible I want to get to know your lifestyle, all relevant aspects of your health and many more important things that influence the way you eat and live. I’m not advocating “one diet for all” approach, but take in account where you are on your journey and your life story, your medical situation and what your goals are. Together we will work out a program that fits into your lifestyle and suits your personality. This way we will be able to connect all the puzzle pieces of your life to create a healthier version of yourself. As my consultations and my advice has to work for you I will take into account your personal situation and your preferences and dislikes about food. It does not matter if you’re vegetarian or an omnivore you will walk away with advice how to stay healthy and vibrant and in tune with your personal values and likes.

Lemon Balm is an amazing herb.
As a tincture or as a tea. Also great for any symptoms of depression, anxiety or any other mood issues.
I personally love the taste and the colour of the tea made out of fresh leaves from the garden.

This is hugely concerning.
Do you like cinnamon? Or hibiscus tea? What about almonds, tamarind or Coconut? They and many other natural food and health products could soon be restricted if our government gets their way with pushing through yet another bill that disempowers and negatively affects our freedoms to choose.
As a natural health practitioner I'm more than concerned.
The bill is called the therapeutic products bill. Check out the comments for a link from parliament.
Everyone can make a submission and if you want to be able to choose what herbs and natural health products you want to use I suggest you write a submission.

The New Zealand (“NZ”) Labour Party have introduced a Therapeutic Products Bill. The public only has until 15 February to make submissions. More than 50% of the NZ public uses Natural Products. The…

Met this ordinary looking guy at Shoe Science today while buying some trail running shoes.

His name is John.
He's now 71 years of age.
John was a dairy farmer in Matakana all his life.
But there's so much more to John.
It was so impressive and inspiring talking to him.

He's the only person who has climbed the highest mountain and ran a marathon in each continent.
He climbed Mt Everest.
He just finished his certificate to be a cross country ski instructor.
He did many more amazing running, climbing, and other feats in his life!
He just keeps going, doesn't give up and lives life to the fullest by the sound of it.

What did I learn from meeting and talking to John?
Don't judge a book by it's cover.
You're never too old to have adventures.
Outdoor activities keep someone young at heart and in the mind and gives you back more than you can ever imagine.
You meet cool dudes at Shoe Science.

And I learned that it doesn't matter that I have a bad hair day. There are more important things in life and I can still take photos and post them 😂

Found this little rock with this powerful message on a memorial on top of Mount Manganui.

I love that statement.

A dear friend of mine who lost her 14 year old daughter said exactly the same to me. If your life falls apart you have no other choice than being strong.

I had a few times in my life when I needed to be very strong, but never as strong as my friend.

I had to be strong growing up as the youngest with three older brothers.

I had to be strong when I almost died at the age of 8 due to a medical mistake.

I had to be strong when my dog that was as old as I was, died at the age of 9. Run over in front of my eyes on purpose by an angry driver.

I had to be strong in my early twenties running a marathon.

I had to be strong moving to NZ and leaving all my family behind.

I had to be strong when my oldest was born in hospital and after over 40 hours in labor I argued with the doctor and refused his medical intervention. As a result I had a natural birth. And two home births after him.

I had to be strong when my mum died and my plane landed 12 hours after she passed. I didn't make it.

I had to be strong raising 3 boys into 3 amazing young men. There were some huge challenges and I'm grateful for those experiences and the strength that developed from them.

I had to be strong in the last 30 months living in this world of ours and continuing to be me, to live my truth and choosing medical freedom.

My life is just an ordinary life.
All of us have experiences like this that make us strong, that shape us and make us unique.

I now view any challenges in my life as part of my journey, as another experience, as a chance to learn and to grow.
And when things feel really bad I look at my blessings, I look at what I have in my life, and I know it is okay.

Being grateful for what I have gives me strength. Every day.

I invite you, to think about your life and remember the times you had to be strong. And realise how those times shaped you and helped you to grow.
And then be grateful for who you are.

With love ❤️
Patricia

Testimonial time.

Reading the testimonial I received feels like the sun is finally rising and shining for this client of mine.
I'm so happy and excited for her and it sounds like she'll be unstoppable now to live her best life ever!
I really appreciate any feedback about my work, and this feedback is just wonderful.

I first came to Patricia seeking help for an autoimmune disease which thanks to her help, is beginning to heal extremely well. During my most recent visit, we began to dive deeper into other issues particularly around eating disorders.

Almost a decade ago I began struggling with eating disorders which lead to a never ending binge/purge cycle that felt impossible to break. The binge tendencies became overwhelming at times and often it was just easier to eat the ‘bad’ food instead of putting myself through the stress of fighting a losing battle with my mind. Things became very exhausting and after nearly a decade I had accepted that compulsive behaviour towards food was something I would unfortunately always struggle with.

Upon hearing this Patricia knew exactly what to do - she worked her magic in a professional and caring way. She’s incredibly talented at what she does while also being extremely empathetic. You can tell she really feels for her clients who are battling and will do everything in her power to clear and balance the body.

After my session, it was so subtle that it wasn’t until a few days passed when I realised I hadn’t had to fight any compulsive behaviours. A full week passed before I told anyone because I was in such shock and almost couldn’t believe it myself. I hadn’t had a break from disordered thoughts in almost a decade! It truly feels like a weight has been lifted.

Patricia’s guidance and expert knowledge has literally given me a new lease on life and the opportunity to focus on the more important things. The work she does is incredible and I’m still blown away at what she’s able to do. I recommend her services to everyone - whether you’re battling physically, mentally or spiritually - Patricia is amazing!

Foodlabels
Do you read them?
Do you think you need to read them more often?
I think you do.
I know it prolongs the time needed for shooing, but it's worth it.
Here are sind examples of chamomile tea which my husband likes to drink. Usually I buy it from the organic shop which is just plain chamomile. I mean, I didn't really expect "natural flavouring" in herbal tea. Didn't even know this was a thing. And natural flavoring is anything but natural btw.
Out of the chamomile teas at paknsave only the Red Seal was 100% chamomile. Tiora and Bell had natural flavouring which I don't want.
And I also was planning to buy roasted and salted cashew nuts, but I didn't. They have canola oil, which is another no go food and I would not recommend it to anyone, various reasons.

Thank God for erasers!

I could easily change my appointment with my client.
I just erased it out of my diary and penciled her in for a new one a couple of days later.
Easy!
I'm thinking now about the concept of erasing things, attachments, connections, experiences, dramas, traumas and maybe even some people that constantly bring us down and are not helping us to become better human beings.
Can we just erase those?
Let them go on their way?
Not be attached anymore?
Realise that there's nothing there that's good for us?

Do we need an eraser for more than just pencils?

Those erasers actually exist.
They are already inside you.
You just need to find them and use them.
You might need help finding them and using them.
And then watch the magic in your life unfold!
It'll be mindblowingly (is this even a word?) A-maz-ing 🥳

if you need support reach out please. This is what I also do in my work. Help my clients to erase old beliefs that don't serve them.

What beliefs do you need to erase out of your brain and body?

What can you see?
A green salad or a plate full of weeds? I see both 😊

My daily lunch for the last days. I don't have a veggie garden right now and it's in the middle of winter here in Auckland, but every day I pick a plate full of the most delicious and healthy greens.
I then add a couple of oranges and an apple, some avocado and maybe fresh dates and voilà, my salad is ready.
I'm finding and adding the following greens to my right now:

It's easy, delicious, healthy, free, organic, full of nutrients and .

Buckwheat milk
My first try to make this myself and I really like the result. And it's so easy to make with hardly any waste.

While I was in Germany one of my lovely SIL brought some store bought buckwheat milk that I enjoyed a lot. And then after some online search I find a few recipes and I made my own.

Recipe
Soak 1 cup of buckwheat groats in a bowl of water.
Rinse a couple of times while soaking for around 24 hours, but even 8 hours soaking will be good enough. And longer is okay as well, just make sure you keep rinsing in between.
Throw the soaked buckwheat into your high speed blender, add 3 cups of water and blend for a couple of minutes.
I poured and squeezed mine through a nut mylk bag and had hardly any residue inside the bag.
I then added a pinch of salt and a couple of tablespoons of mable syrup. Voilà!
Refrigerate and drink within 4 to 5 days.
I'm freezing half of it right now to see if that works well too.

Buckwheat milk is free from gluten and dairy and is suitable for most people.
And soaked seeds are so much better for us then not soaked seeds.

It is quite rich and high in protein. I even added more water to it to make it a bit lighter. Just play around with it to see how you like it.

The reason I was absent from any social media posts and NZ for quite a while.
My family in Germany.
And in the centre my dad who urgently needed me to be by his side.
I spent 7 intense, beautiful and loving weeks with my dad and some of my brothers and their families. I have amazing brothers, SIL's, nieces and nephews and loved hanging out with them. After 4 years of not seeing each other it was time to be together again.
Most of my overseas family got a taste of my Kinesiology which was so insightful and I'm sure also helpful to their wellbeing. I was very grateful for their trust in me and my work.
Back in NZ again, managed to overcome my jet lag after 5 tired days and am looking forward again to connecting with you in person or online for Kinesiology sessions.
And I'm planning to post a bit more again.

Health food
That was the sign above some supermarket shelves.
I'm interested in "health food" as I thought it's healthy food that they are referring to.
I thought to myself that it might be healthier than what I had in my trolley? Could it be? Healthier than fruit and vegetables?
No, it wasn't. But as we know, that's no surprise.
That's part of the problem, in our supermarkets about 70 to 90 %of the food sold is junk. And what is called health food might be glutenfree, but very often still highly processed and not healthy per se at all.
Are you confused yet about what are ? I was too, for a long time.
With all the different diets out there it is hard to know what to do for yourself. And I experimented with vegetarian, vegan, paleo, high/healthy fats and low carbs.
Until I came across aka the .
I'm now using his tools, knowledge and protocols in my own life and supporting my clients to do the same.
With amazing effects.
No matter what you're troubled with, the will be your solution.
And when combined with you'll have a fallproof way of working out what food is best for you.
